and then the fall of Rome, the aristocrats grew as did the disparity between classes. yet

Bread and Circus worked for hundreds of years.

I do find the history of Athens more inspiring and even more tragic because of Hubris

They have gained political control and they can do as they please. They now have control of the politicians.
