Hating the poor is a politically correct way of being racist

Sure, there are poor whites, but the mass perception is that African Americans are deficient and thus, their poverty is inevitable. So, any govt programs targeted to the poor disproportionately will help African Americans.

That perception is the primary reason why the Republican party exists today. Without racism, they would be a fringe party at best.

As for poor Whites, the perception is that they are lazy and deserve their fate.

that's no more true than the current claim on DU that "the only way to survive in America is to be white".

IMO, a large reason behind this hate is fear.

None. There are only irrational reasons, and when you really listen to people who pass restrictions on the poor, they're really talking about African Americans and Latinos.

Hating the poor has a long history. I'm damned shocked that you are so ignorant of this. Take England, for example, when it was almost all white. Countless examples of hating the poor exist within that framework.

Many GOP voters have very little money, but they think if they blame the poor, it somehow makes them better. They don't see themselves as like those of similar economic means.

There was an interesting article posted in good reads about six months ago in which a former Republican talked about the prevalence of shame among the right, that the same of poverty led them to identify with the GOP.

PC Def: an attitude or policy of being careful not to offend or upset any group of people in society who are believed to have a disadvantage.

I think I get what you are saying but it has nothing to do with PC.
