Will you vote for Hillary, gun control advocate?

Many democrat gun enthusiasts have admonished democrat politicians who support gun control, often saying or suggesting or implying that they would not vote for such a person if they were running in their own district. Or that democrat politicians and the democrat party are somewhat doomed for taking on gun control positions.
How does this rationale sit with election 2016 & Hillary Clinton? presuming Hillary is heiress presumptive to the democrat nomination, will her gun control stance affect your 2016 vote against a surely far more 'pro gun' republican nominee? (third party candidates, regrettably, deemed negligible for this poll, but use your discretion).

Some background: Hillary Clinton lashed out at opponents of gun control regulations, saying they hold a viewpoint that “terrorizes” the majority of Americans. “We cannot let a minority of people, and that’s what it is, it is a minority of people, hold a viewpoint that terrorizes the majority of people,” http://time.com/2891821/hillary-clinton-2016-gun-control/

lapierre-head: I vow on this day the NRA will stand shoulder to shoulder with you and good, honest decent Americans and we will stand and fight with everything we've got and in 2016, by God, we will elect the next great president of the United States of America and it will not be Hillary Rodham Clinton,” Mr LaPierre said.

As Hillary Clinton mulls running for president in 2016, she has been careful to shy away from broad, sweeping policy declarations. But not when she delivered harsh criticism of gun culture in America and denounced the idea that "anybody can have a gun, anywhere, at any time." Clinton didn't dispute Americans' right to own guns. But she said access to guns in the US had grown "way out of balance." "We've got to rein in what has become an almost article of faith that anybody can have a gun anywhere, anytime..".

Gun rights groups have long considered Mrs. Clinton their foe. Her 2000 Senate campaign centered on a push to keep guns off the streets, and she was a forceful advocate of creating a national gun registry.. as she faced off against Barack Obama in the Democratic primary, she positioned herself as more conservative than him on gun control. She backed off the proposal for a national registry..

As presumed Democrats here on the Democrat Underground, will you or won't you vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016? .. expound upon your reasoning if you wish. I know it's an 'unscientific internet poll', just amongst ourselves, could be interesting.

I learn to dig deeply into issues and understand that despite the marketing involved in those who are running for President people have records even if those records are often obscured during primaries and the whole election season ... you ought to completely trust who you are voting for because of their long held positions on different issues ... you ought to analyze the positions deeply because there is often Orwellian languaging being used ...

What I am positive about from Clintons record is that she is both a neo-conservative and a neo-liberal ... her connections to Wall Street are problematic etc ...

ToS for election time is coming up. You might want to review:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=termsofservice

Vote for Democrats.

Winning elections is important — therefore, advocating in favor of Republican nominees or in favor of third-party spoiler candidates that could split the vote and throw an election to our conservative opponents is never permitted on Democratic Underground.
But that does not mean that DU members are required to always be completely supportive of Democrats. During the ups-and-downs of politics and policy-making, it is perfectly normal to have mixed feelings about the Democratic officials we worked hard to help elect. When we are not in the heat of election season, members are permitted to post strong criticism or disappointment with our Democratic elected officials, or to express ambivalence about voting for them. In Democratic primaries, members may support whomever they choose. But when general election season begins, DU members must support Democratic nominees (EXCEPT in rare cases where a non-Democrat is most likely to defeat the conservative alternative, or where there is no possibility of splitting the liberal vote and inadvertently throwing the election to the conservative alternative). For presidential contests, election season begins when both major-party nominees become clear. For non-presidential contests, election season begins on Labor Day.Everyone here on DU needs to work together to elect more Democrats and fewer Republicans to all levels of American government. If you are bashing, trashing, undermining, or depressing turnout for our candidates during election season, we'll assume you are rooting for the other side.

and in America in general.

I like to re-post it every once in awhile, and this seems like a good time for it.

The underlying politics of gun control has always been the same: the majority of Americans agree that there should be limits and controls on the manufacture and sale and ownership of weapons intended only to kill en masse, while a small minority feels, with a fanatic passion, that there shouldn’t. In a process familiar to any student of society, the majority of people in favor of gun sanity care about a lot of other things, too, and think about them far more often; the gun crazy think about guns all the time, and vote on the issue with fanatic intensity.

in the Democratic party and that is why she has a chance of wining the primaries.

If she is for gun control, good.

28. She'll say whatever her media gurus and focus group pollsters tell her to say

And right now they have picked up on the fact that there is some agitation out there for enhanced gun control. I don't think Clinton has a dog in this fight, I doubt that she even knows how to fire a gun. However, she is a panderer par excellence and she'll go with whichever side puts the most pressure on her.

Personally, I would be opposed to any gun control measures beyond universal background checks. But I don't care how Clinton comes down on this issue, since I have a shitload of other reasons to oppose her.

As somebody mentioned elsewhere on this thread, Obama has not taken one gun away from me, despite seven years of hysterical screeching by the NRA and some other nervous nellies. So I couldn't care less about Clinton.

Perhaps not, but what diff? Kerry had a shotgun, gore was in the army, doesn't matter whether a democrat knows how to use a gun or not, nra would never support a democrat.

whoever it is. I may caucus for Clinton but I don't know yet, as it is still early on and I don't know what the rest of the field will be. Whichever Democratic candidate I vote for will support gun control. I will not support a pro-gun candidate.

60. Gun rights are important to me

I get that removing those rights is important to a lot of people here.

However, if I wanted to vote for the person who was most likely to support those rights, I'd have to vote for bat-shit crazy anti-science republicans. I can't say that I'll happily vote for Hillary, but I'll happily vote against crazy people.

especially in the way you use "democrat."

So, I will not vote in your poll since I will not vote for a Republican in a real election.

Hillary is an accomplished woman and I respect her for that. But I won't vote for Hillary because she is another neoliberal like Obama and her husband.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result.

If Hillary is the nominee, then I will vote third party.

And if Democrats want the votes of progressives, then they need to stop moving to the right.

I will volunteer my time and work for the party on the phone or door to door (health permitting) for the eventual nominee regardless of his-her individual positions. There is not an R candidate that comes close to most D's or DUers way of thinking platform wide!!!

For the sake of her first mid-term elections, I hope she learned the lesson that Bill Clinton learned in 1994.

93. I will vote for the Democratic nominee but am undecided in the primary

I'd describe myself as leaning Clinton, but I am not sure. I will wait until the debates, to see what all the candidates have to say, and who is still in by the time I caucus.

Needless to say, a strong gun control position is a plus for me. A pro-gun position is a big negative.
