The theme for the April contest is "COLOR RIOT".

Color Riot is explosions or abstracts of any or all the color that you want.
Interpretation of this theme can be as literal, figurative, metaphorical as you wish, and creative post-processing and archived photos are allowed.

The top two vote getters in each thread will advance to the finals along with the next four highest vote getters overall.

Preliminary Round will run for 3 days.
Finals will be posted shortly thereafter and will run for 3 days

26. Two were so close, evoking both "color" and "riot."

"Inside Salvation Mountain" would have been an easy pick, but "Hon" looks ready to open the box wine and riot, so.....

The other 2 batches were sort of meh, so it was a little unfair to have these two stunners on the same page.

what's a "meh"?

34. It's a word that means

that they are all lovely photographs on their own, mostly of flowers, but kind of missed the whole idea of a color riot. Either they were mostly monochrome or the subjects and/or composition were a bit on the formal side, and while they would be a fine addition to any wall or portfolio, missed either the spirit or the letter of the contest, riots being a very messy business.

It didn't mean any of them were bad, they most certainly were not, they were all fine for what they were. However, there were two that stuck out as being particularly apropos and a third on the same page that fit the title well.

You just had to ask.

Now it's time to demand my qualifications to offer an opinion.

36. English being my second language, the subtlety of "meh" has been an enigma to me

Everyone with two eyes who responds with emotion and the je ne sais quois for beauty has the qualification to offer an opinion, which of course includes you. That is why we solicit the General DU audience, not just the photo forum's opinions.
By the way your description now, beyond the "meh" does not describe my entry.

Please enter the contests, we need more participants, and love new eyes all the time. Your opinions would be greatly valued and considered by all.
