Wow. Chris is practically attacking Judy Miller for her role in convincing the American public to have a war in Iraq. He's dscribing it as "disingenuous" and is asking her repeatedly whether she feels some deep responsibility either professionally or morally for the disaster that is in Iraq.
When I saw that she was going to be on, I thought. "I can't believe he's bringing HER on" to talk about the Der Spiegel article which reports that ISIS is essentially the same people as Saddam Hussein's intelligence apparatus. But he is totally holding her feet to the fire about all of that she did at the NYT to help sell the war.

(72,631 posts)Annoying... yet that's why most politicians avoid these kind of confrontational interviews...
And why we get screwed in the process...
Props to Chris Hayes.

(15,805 posts)That is Judy Miller lying... again! She keeps repeating the same old lies that the intelligence agencies got it wrong, which was debunked years ago. It's BS!
I never ever bought into Bush's lies. The UN was putting out tons of evidence disputing Bush/Cheney's unsubstantiated crap. Some US news agencies, and even more throughout Europe, got the story right. Yet here she is, one of the biggest war enablers the Bush administration had, acting like she played no part in the road to war.

(45,274 posts)with out ground forces the way that we did if we had thought there was the slightest real possibility that Saddam could deploy gas against them.
When I pointed that out to some wingnut hawk types right after the invasion, they said Saddam had moved them all to Syria.
I said something to the effect of "Jesus, his country has just been invaded. Who the fuck is he saving them to use on? The Martians?"
I don't remember what deflection came next from the wingnut.
