1. I LOVED Kris Straub's "Starshift Crisis"/"Starslip Crisis".

The end seemed a bit rushed though.

I think the best scene was when Vanderbeam started his secret project.

"Computer, how long would it take to compute a route back to an earlier parallel universe?"
"Define: earlier."
"One where Princess Jovia is still alive."
"Calculating... Approximately 50,000 years."
"Begin."

It still gives me goosebumps.
This is a man who literally defied space and time and schemed for eons, just for the chance to return the love of his life to his younger self.

interfere with the alien civilization and then their protocol officer sleeps with one of the aliens. I miss that series and have a hard time getting into Broodhollow (his latest series).

3. Adolf must be looking up and smiling. For decades after WWII his legacy was the embodiment of evil

and served as a constant reminder of the beliefs and actions synonymous with the far-right.

And not that his legacy did not deserve the hyper-scrutiny that it received, particularly in the eyes of the generation that lived through that war. But that generation has largely died off and the rest of us kind of want to move on. (Look at Europe today. The far-right is making a comeback by offering 'simple', 'us vs them' solutions to economic problems. To the far-right, Germany should be competing with France, the UK and other EU countries not cooperating with them to solve common problems. Adolph is looking up and smiling.)

We all still understand that Hitler was evil but may no longer want not to use him as the ultimate example of evilness 70 years after he died. He was our father's or grandfather's or great-grandfather's boogeyman. (Maybe they used him as the symbol of ultimate evil so much that they wore it out.) Perhaps we need a new 'ultimate villain'.
