In nearly a dozen Republican-dominated states, either the governor or conservative legislators are seeking to add work requirements to Obamacare Medicaid expansion, much like an earlier generation pushed for welfare to work, Politico reports.
The move presents a politically acceptable way for conservative states to accept the billions of federal dollars available under Obamacare, bringing health care coverage to millions of low-income people. But to the Obama administration, a work requirement is a non-starter, an unacceptable ideological shift in the 50-year-old Medicaid program and a break with the Affordable Care Acts mission of expanding health care coverage to all Americans.

I'm wondering how they expect a 50 yr old, partially disabled person with no skills to work

(5,170 posts)1. How much can someone make at a job,
while on Medicaid, before they fall into the gap between Medicaid and subsidized Obamacare?

not saying that's the profile of everyone on Medicaid, but they are not being realistic.
I'm assuming these Republican governors will provide them with jobs, right?

(39,215 posts)3. These fools do not understand who is eligible for Medicaid. Seniors in nursing homes, disabled
children and adults many of them cannot work, over 50s that the industries will no longer hire and children. They are going to have to make a shit-load of exceptions to their rule.
