Colorado GOPers claim IUDs cause abortions, scrap program that reduced teen birthrate by 40 percent

Republicans on a Colorado state Senate committee this week voted to end a contraception program that proponents said had helped to reduce the teen birthrate by 40 percent in recent years.

“Senate Republicans on the State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee defeated legislation to continue the Long Acting Reversible Contraception or ‘LARC’ program, a bipartisan bill to reduce unintended pregnancies and abortions,” a statement from Democratic state Sen. Mary Hodge noted on Wednesday.

“The program was effective, helping the teen birth rate in Colorado drop 40 percent from 2009 through 2013,” according to the statement. “The abortion rate also dropped 42 percent in that same time period.”

The Denver Post reported that some members of the Republican caucus had referred to IUDs as an abortifacient, even though this conclusion has been repeatedly rejected by the scientific community.

You really should read the other couple of paragraphs in this story. They introduced a few other bills that defy science, common sense, and a woman's rights.

Clearly as good, clear thinking is thrown to the wayside, reason and scientific inquiry scuttled (IUDs do not cause removal of an implanted fetus, but work to stop implantation, which is NOT an abortion) the one must remember Grisham's Law ("Bad money drives good money out of circulation" ) and replace it with "Bad thinking drives good thinking out of circulation."
We are headed for a lot of trouble and extricating ourselves may be nigh impossible.

this is simply Jeff Sharlet's book "The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power".

top richest 1% holds 43% of all financial wealth in America, top 10% holds 72%, richest 20% Americans hold 95.4% of all the financial wealth in America, leaving a Whopping 4.6% to the poorest 80%, and 2%-2.5% to the poorest 50%.

the GOP is run by a shadow group that believes in Abraham Vereide's [a Nazi sympathizer came here in 1035] version of Christianity, he heard voices and god told him of his Great Plan for the Rich, they run the country in small secret "Dominionist Prayer Groups", they believe that wealth and power is proof of jesus and god's favor of a man, therefore it is a sin before god to tax a rich man or corporation. the poor are being punished by god for not "Submitting" to god's great plan. which is for the poor to work to make the rich richer, and then god's grace will 'trickle down' to them. it's DOGMA not agenda

check out Jeff Sharlet's 'The Family', I got mine cheap used on amazon . he lived with them for 4 years writing the book with access to archives that went back to 1935. it was 9 months on the NYT's best seller list.
