Unarmed Teen Shot By Police, Cried For His Mother As He Died: ‘Mommy, Mommy, Please Come’

As Hector Morejon was dying, after being shot by California Police, he cried out with final desperate words to his mother: “Mommy, Mommy, please come, please come.”

Those words now haunt Lucia Morejon, Hector’s mother. She tells us that Long Beach police thought the 19-year-old was in possession of a firearm. They were wrong. But this alone seemed cause to the Long Beach officers to open fire and kill Hector on Thursday afternoon.

Lucia Morejon’s attorney says Hector was clearly unarmed, and had nothing that resembled a firearm when police unloaded on him.

Hector’s final words to his mother came as he was being placed into an ambulance, the attorney alleges. They desperate cry was a response to police refusing to allow Lucia see her dying son before the ambulance drove away.

“He was reaching for her – reaching out to her for help,” Sonia Mercado, the lawyer for the family told The Huffington Post.

“She identified herself as his mother, expecting to ride with him to the hospital, but they refused to let her in.”

Now, Lucia says she hears these dying words of her innocent son, every day, echoing in her mind: “Mommy, Mommy, please come, please come.”

*Snip*

“The officer observed [Morejon] turn towards him, while bending his knees, and extending his arm out as if pointing an object which the officer perceived was a gun,” a press release from the Long Beach Police Department attempted to rationalize.

“At this point, an officer involved shooting occurred,” the statement continued, in noting the obvious.

All in all, Friday’s press release said nothing of any substance or value. The police have made it clear that they will protect their own, even when they gun down innocent, unarmed teenagers.

Another trigger happy cop who would rather shoot than apprehend a citizen.
Sooner or later, there is going to be a massive uprising against the cops in this country with a lot of people dying, including TPTB.

Need to pull out my Thesaurus for a larger vocabulary to describe human-like beings who use the Color of Authority to brutalize and kill.

Already the Riot Police Lines are starting to remind me of medieval wars. They'd line up and have wave after wave of soldiers, aka Ben Hur, and continue until the enemy was conquered.

for the local disarming(sp?) of armed-CARRY police officers. They're nearly batman without the pistol on their hip, to say nothing of the riot shotgun in the front of the patrol car, (and in most cases, a small arsenal in the trunk).

I say we do this for 6 months, and see what we see, because if ANY of these killers had to go back to the car first to get the gun, NONE of these citizens would be dead.

Makes me wish I were a believer and could find some comfort in the afterlife these victims might have. But there's so much BS that you can't find peace in anything.

Being an agnostic, I hope there's a God who will comfort.

than what you hear from some third world dictatorship where the cops work for the dictator and the people have no power.

I don't care what anyone says, at this point, I believe they are doing this because it is APPROVED. There ARE no consequences.

Thousands of citizens murdered by police, more than by terrorists.

I am far, far more afraid of our police than I am of terrorists.

23. An Epidemic
Fri May 1, 2015, 03:50 AM
May 2015

It seems like there is an epidemic of this nonsense going on. Everyday you hear or read about some unarmed teenager or young person being gunned down by police or police wannabes (like George Zimmerman.) Could this REALLY have been happening all along with this intensity or is this something very new? It seems like, from the stories you hear, that even freezing and not moving still results in being shot. Because of the deaths, it tells the story of multiple shots, not just one that hit these victims. By the looks of things, if I were a person of color or some other minority, I would be afraid to even venture outside. That mother in Baltimore who pulled her teenage son out of the protesting crowd (and touted as "the mother of the year&quot later told reporters that she did NOT do this out of civic responsibility as people originally thought. She did it out of FEAR that her son would get shot and killed even if he was doing nothing. God bless her!

Did anyone actually think she was trying to help the police???

Even when people are perfectly compliant police will shoot first and make up an excuse for it later.

Is it any wonder people run away from cops and resist arrest? You cannot trust that cops will treat you properly or even lawfully.

Do you want to know where the guns really are? They are in rural white enclaves like the one I live in.

I don't know what the exact stats are, but anecdotally, I can tell you that pretty much everyone around here are gun owners. Despite this fact, I can't think of a single incident in which a police officer automatically assumed that some young white guy was "reaching for his gun" even though it's far more probable that the white guy owns one. At least in this area... Btw, concealed carry is legal here.

There may have been some such incident in the past, but I can't think of any. And I've lived here for over 35 years... Why are PoC not given the same benefit of the doubt?

I don't want to go too far out in the weeds on this, because ultimately, the OP is about the heart-wrenching dying words of yet another unarmed black man murdered by cops.

But I think it's important to point out the demographics of gun ownership in this county, which clearly show the racial bias cops are using when jumping to the conclusion that a black man is "reaching for his gun" with little to no evidence that he even has one. It's a bullshit excuse.

If you take a look at these stats, who is more likely to be carrying a gun?... It's the conservative, rural, white man... Yet, it is black men who are disproportionately being seen as "threats", even though they are much more likely to be unarmed. Michelle Alexander, author of 'The New Jim Crow' couldn't possibly be more correct about what is really going on here.

It's time they stopped letting any fool in the world join the police. It's just too important the cop be intelligent, and well-balanced.
