Let me get this straight. A man is dead. He got beaten to a pulp, thrown into a paddy wagon, taken for a Nickel Ride, got his neck snapped like a twig, got paralyzed, got his larynx crushed, and died.
What was his crime?
He allegedly possessed a switchblade.
Except it wasn't a switchblade. The knife in question turned out to be a legal pocketknife.
Do you know what this means?
Among other severe human rights violations, the Baltimore Police violated Freddie Gray's Second Amendment Rights.
So I have a question.
Where are all the Second Amendment fans? Where are all the gun bunnies?
HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO???!!!!!
ANYBODY HOOOOOOOME????!!!
Wayne LaPierre, where are you? Isn't the Second Amendment your thing?
Oh, wait silly me, I forgot the unwritten rule. In America, weapons are for white people. Welcome to our post-racial nation.

(16,201 posts)It still often is for that purpose.
Sadly we as a society long ago accepted that certain concealed knives would be illegal, including switchblades. I'm sure gang fears drove that one - think West Side Story. I've often found it odd that illegal to carry knives are suddenly perfectly legal if I put them into my fishing tackle box and have a valid fishing license.

That's the Second Amendment right there, to protect your Freedom

(38,613 posts)The Second Amendment is not just about guns; it is about freedom, the freedom to own the arms we choose to own. Whether guns or knives, our founding fathers clearly intended that the people would be able to choose their arms freely and that this right would always be protected by the Second Amendment.

(19,497 posts)called for all POC to arm themselves for defense even stating that if they couldn't afford guns the government should supply them.
Now, you ridicule the idea of the people being able to defend themselves.
Moreover, any gun control regime you would now champion would, naturally, be enforced by the police -- of the sort who killed Freddie Grey.
Is consistency too much to ask for?

(30,439 posts)The 2nd Amendment only applies to white people in the eyes of the gun nut.
White privilege is being able to point a rifle a law enforcement officials with no consequences.
Being black means getting shot in the back by a white cop from 30 feet away while you're unarmed and RUNNING AWAY from said cop.
Welcome to America.

I condemned the killing of the man who was SWAT'ed at WalMart. I have posted articles here applauding blacks arming themselves and repelling the KKK. The RKBA forum regularly notes the racist roots of gun control. I posted about the injustice perpetrated against Shaneen Allen.

http://www.nranews.com/cam/video/cam-and-company-2015-doug-ritter-why-should-carrying-a-knife-be-illegal/list/recent-segments
The Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the death of Baltimore resident Freddie Gray. The young black man was arrested while carrying a common folding knife, called a concealed deadly weapon by authorities. He died a week later from injuries allegedly received while in police custody. Doug Ritter, chairman and executive director of Knife Rights, discusses the case of Freddie Gray, and the laws that continue to view common knives as dangerous weapons. He also provides an update on progress on pro-knife laws in Maine and Oklahoma, and the need for pressure on Texas legislators. Originally aired on NRA News Cam & Co 04/24/15.
