(62,265 posts)They very likely want the contribute pop-up to be the primary feature one sees when they go there, but once you click off of it you should see the footer like on other sites.
All sites should have a sitemap, though.

(18,115 posts)Hillary has not one link anywhere on her site to issues or positions. Nothing.
I'd say Hillary's campaign team isn't up to the job.

(8,352 posts)Turn of adblock, flashblock, and allow javascripting in your browser. Also make sure you browser is up-to-date.
All of those things are in fact there and visible but some are having browser issues, and they are unable to view them unless they go directly to the links given in post #3.

(8,352 posts)I am actually going to write their webmaster because I have seen quite a few complaints now here at DU that links are not visible, the page is not loading, etc.
lumberjack_jeff
(33,224 posts)From the cached google page, I clicked donate, then backed my way up to the index page. Fixed!

(8,352 posts)I just emailed them to let them know of this issue that I have seen now crop up all day here at DU.
Hopefully it will be address so such work-arounds are not necessary.
joshcryer
(62,265 posts)That may be when they roll out a better site overhaul.
But the issues thus far are common ones when a site has not been fully tested against multiple browsers. It should be fully functioning in whatever state it starts in for all who want to view it on any of the major desktop or mobile browsers.
That's what I emailed them about.

(62,265 posts)That makes the site literally inoperable.
Cheese Sandwich
(9,086 posts)It accepts volunteers, donations, you can sign up for email updates.
That's what it's supposed to be right now. They have a launch date for new content sometime in May.
People who have links to older content that is no longer linked from the homepage may still visit those pages, but they are not accessible through the homepage right now. I emailed them and that's what they told me.
joshcryer
(62,265 posts)I wasn't aware the footer which exists on most of those pages was "outdated."
Cheese Sandwich
(9,086 posts)My guess is they removed the footer links from the home page to reduce traffic because they were overwhelmed by an unexpected flood of interest when he first announced, so they had reduce the page requests.
At first I was trying to help the OP access content because it seemed like he was truly interested. But now I think most of the posts are about criticizing the website, or perceiving website flaws and using that to paint my candidate in a bad light. So I'm dropping out of the thread. Adios
joshcryer
(62,265 posts)There are some in this thread who are using it as a talking point, but it's a significant website design issue, fixing it would be literally a one line piece of code.
I tweeted them but did not send an email because I didn't think it merited it. With your comments I don't feel like sending an email since they'll officially launch the website in a few weeks. Fixing the footer in the intrim should not hurt nor should a suggestion to do so be seen as criticism. Though apparently it is a "criticism" and "painting the candidate in a bad light."
It's not a big damn deal.
Erich Bloodaxe BSN
(14,733 posts)unless, of course, as everyone keeps suggesting, it was deliberately turned off because the traffic is overwhelming the site. In which case fixing it simply takes you right back to the site acting like it is getting hit with a DOS attack because it's getting too many clicks, more than it can accommodate. They real problem may well be that they need a load-balanced server farm and they've been hosting on a single server.
joshcryer
(62,265 posts)Geez.
Erich Bloodaxe BSN
(14,733 posts)If you're already getting too many people hitting the site for the load you can handle, you don't want them to stay on the site hitting more pages.
10 people hitting 1 page, 10 clicks minimum. 10 people hitting 10 pages, 100 clicks minimum. Now add a bunch of zeroes onto that to get what's probably happening. Of course, the worst of the problem is only going to happen in spurts, and right at site open is the worst time, since that's when everybody wants to see what's there. We had the same sort of problem every time the New York Film Festival opened using our website, because they insisted on telling the public exactly what time tickets went on sale rather than just a date, and everybody and their brother was trying to buy tickets for films at exactly the same minute.
joshcryer
(62,265 posts)Assuming people take the interest to scroll down to the footer, click a footer link, and load the page. The dynamic email pages and donation pages are a lot harder to serve than static about pages and issues pages.
I think we're over analyzing this. I call it an innocent oversight. Everyone else calls it everything from intentional due to old pages, to preventing DOS. C'mon, Occams razor please? The "old pages" argument is actually the most logical, it's just unfortunate they use the same CSS and styling and footer on most of those pages. Just throw the footer on the main page. It's really not that big of a deal, because 90% of people aren't going to click footer links.
It's not that big of a deal especially because of the coming soon thing, the real site launches the 26th when the campaign truly kicks off.
MadrasT
(7,237 posts)It is blatantly obvious they don't intend it to have content yet.
And they have announced when it will.
