Woman, toddler killed when car hits apartment complex
By The Associated Press
LIVERMORE, Calif. (AP) A car driven by a suspected drunken driver crashed into a Northern California apartment complex, killing a woman and her toddler and slightly injuring two other children as they all walked together outside, police said Sunday.
The crash occurred Saturday evening in Livermore, when a driver lost control near a curve and smashed into the apartment complex. The vehicle struck a 40-year-old woman walking with three children on a path at the complex, Livermore Police Officer Ryan Sanchez said.
The woman and her 14-month-old daughter were killed. Two other family members, 6- and 7-year-old boys, were treated for minor injuries. Police said the woman, from Seaside in Monterey County, was visiting relatives at the complex.
Police initially said the car struck victims in a backyard at the complex.
Police arrested Brian Jones, 35, of Livermore on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and another alcohol-related driving count, Sanchez said.

I heard Sanjay say something like marijuana does not hamper judgment, but should be avoided when driving. Which is it? Does not hamper? or "Should be avoided."
I wonder if we will be hearing stuff like this accident when all the states legalize marijuana. and will laws be changed.

(3,813 posts)and regular use does not impair as much as occasional use. That same show you speak of had a segment with drivers on a closed course under the influence of MJ. Infrequent smokers had difficulty. Regular smokers got around it without much trouble.
That said, driving under the influence of any mind altering substance is not a good idea. It's just that some are worse than others.
