No doubt there are reasons why draft proposals circulated amongst countries are ideally held close to the vest, but you can't ask for something without telling people what it is you want.

(8,168 posts)How are we even supposed to discuss this issue? It makes most of us insane that we're either required to "trust" or "distrust" the President on this. Then you're left with a typical argument over who's always distrusted him and who tends to be comfortable that he's got our best interests at heart. Not exactly exciting stuff.

(14,255 posts)countries. The TPP has a little bit of trade stuff, mostly unenforceable, or not intending to enforce, as usual. But the bulk of it seems to be corporations telling countries what to do.
So I do not feel that the traditional "secrecy" thing should be invoked. This is a Trojan horse masquerading as a trade agreement.
