Garland, Texas—Scene of Last Night's Shootings—Is a Hotbed for Anti-Muslim Bigotry

Last night, there was a shooting in Garland, Texas. Two men opened fire outside a Muslim caricature event hosted by anti-Muslim activist Pamela Geller, and were shot dead in response. One security officer was reportedly injured in the attack as well.

There are many unanswered questions about the shooting – we don't know much about the identity of the perpetrators nor their motivations.

But the narrative that is being told about the events is incomplete. Geller is being portrayed as an advocate of free speech, who was holding a Muhammad cartoon contest that was simply about affirming First Amendment principles.

This simply is not the case

Ramp up anti-Muslim rhetoric (which is her Constitutional right), hold an event that will piss off extremist muslims (which is her right), extremist muslims react by getting violent and being all extreme(which is not their right), Gellar gets to say, "See, I told ya so!" She has worked long and hard on creating a situation that would bring about this effect. I suspect she's feeling very smug today (which is her right).

Then people like myself that point out this clear path of cause and effect get accused of supporting terrorists (which I don't) or are anti-first amendment (which I'm not). It's like we've lost our collective heads.

Even though Gellar has every right in the US to say what she's saying and to do what she's doing doesn't make it right. That is not victim blaming, it's just a fact. Her anti-Muslim campaign has been going on for years. Close to a decade I think. Just like any anti-LGBT person has the right to say whatever they'd like to about the LGBT community (and they do it often) doesn't make it right or moral.

She has brilliantly planned and executed this and it has gone exactly as she hoped.

She is a very, very dangerous woman.

planning a series of these events across the country now. She wants her war on Islam and she is bound and determined to get it, I fear, using what means are necessary. If that means a few injured or dead Americans, I suspect she will not shed a tear.

Every time she gets to go on radio or TV and exclaim, "Savages!" I suspect she orgasms.

her hatred of them is well known. However, what has she said that could be shut down legally?

She is ignored by the Muslim community as a tactic of theirs, they know what she wants.

I don't know why anyone gives her a pass, if that is what you mean..she should not be given
that consideration due to free speech as she is a hate monger looking for the destruction of Muslims,
especially Palestinians. Yet, she is afforded that speech and runs with it, it is legal under the law
unless she is doing something else I am not aware of.
