Sylvia Driskell, a 66-year-old woman in Nebraska, has filed a lawsuit against all people who identify as LGBT, the Omaha World-Herald reports. In a case filed on May 1 with the district court in Omaha, called, Driskell v. Homosexuals, Driskell identifed herself as an ambassador for God, And His, Son, Jesus Christ as the plaintiff. The defendants? Homosexuals; Their Given Name Homosexuals; Their, (alias) Gay.
Driskell is representing herself in the case she wrote out by hand on lined notebook paper. Her challenge: Petition Your Honor and Court of the United States District Court of Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska. To be heard in the in the matter of homosexuality. Is Homosexuality a sin, or not a sin.
A few standout quotes from Driskells curiously punctuated, grammatically unconventional, Bible verse-intensive lawsuit against gay people:
* The Homosexuals say that its not a sin to be a homosexual; An they have the right to marry; to be parents, And God doesnt care that their homosexuals; because He loves them.
* Your Honor; Ive hear the boasting of the Defendant: the Homosexuals on the world news; from the Young, to the Old; to the rich An famous; and to the not so rich An famous; How they were tired of hiding in the closet, and how glad they are coming out of the closet.
* Ambassador: I Sylvia Ann Driskell; Contented that homosexuality is a sin, And that they the homosexuals know it is a sin to live a life of homosexuality. Why else would they have been hiding in a closet.

AND, if God thought god needed a lawyer, something tells me god would hire someone who could
A) TYPE, and
B) spell correctly
in other words, if God DID need a starship, God would hire Voyager, end of discussion .

(359 posts)I was going to ask "why does God need a lawsuit?" If God hates homosexuals, he can smite them. As for me, God's Son commanded me to love every one the way he loved me. So I kinda have to love them all.

An engineer dies and reports to the pearly gates. St. Peter checks his dossier and says, "Ah, you're an engineer -- you're in the wrong place."
So, the engineer reports to the gates of hell and is let in. Pretty soon, the engineer gets dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. After awhile,
they've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is a pretty popular guy.
One day, God calls Satan up on the telephone and says with a sneer, "So, how's it going down there in hell?"
Satan replies, "Hey, things are going great. We've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next."
God replies, "What??? You've got an engineer? That's a mistake -- he should never have gotten down there; send him up here."
Satan says, "No way." I like having an engineer on the staff, and I'm keeping him."
God says, "Send him back up here or I'll sue."
Satan laughs uproariously and answers, "Yeah, right. And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?"

(23,975 posts)I hope this gets thrown out of court. If a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client, what does a non-lawyer have? whatever it is, at least she has appropriate representation.

(15,888 posts)Society in Nebraska would not let poor Sylvia Driskell to live the open homosexual life she wanted so, instead, she picks up rocks to throw at those who were brave enough to come out. If these are the people who follow Jesus, then I say, "Jesus, save me from your people"!

(50,557 posts)Besides sanity. We know it's missing that.
Any good case has to explain two things: how the defendants' actions harmed the plaintiff's rights, and what relief the plaintiff seeks.
Since the plaintiff has no right under any law to not have her feelings hurt, she has no Injury, and she has no constitutional Relief because her demand is to have homosexuality declared either a Sin or a Not-Sin - and since Sin is a religious construct finding either way would be a government endorsement of religion in violation of the First Amendment.
OTOH if gay guys are having sex on her front porch and she doesn't want them to do that she would have an injury, but the simple existence of gay people is treading on her delicate sensitivities and the courts don't care about things like that.

(26,060 posts)And even if it is a sin, what does that have to do with our laws which are not based on the bible? What injury has she sustained by the existence of gays (asking what standing she has to even bring the case)? How does this not get laughed out of court?

I hope this woman has someone other than "God" to watch out for her and take care of her. She seems to have a tenuous hold on reality.

(5,762 posts)Even if the court were to entertain this idiocy long enough to point out that courts rule on law, not sin, the point would be utterly lost on her. She would then declare that US courts are satanic, or some other lunacy.
What a waste.
