Hillary Clinton Shows New Willingness to Tackle Risky Issues

It has been only three weeks since Hillary Rodham Clinton declared her candidacy for the White House, but she already looks more confident than she did during the almost 17 months of her last campaign.

Sure, no serious rival has yet emerged to get under her skin the way Barack Obama did in 2008. But Mrs. Clinton and her team have also shown a determination not to be thrown off course: not by the blowback on her use of personal email while at the State Department, not by reports critical of the Clinton Foundation, nor by congressional investigations of the 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya.

Such flare-ups used to make Mrs. Clinton go cold and cautious. Now, she is projecting a scandals-be-damned attitude and barreling ahead with her agenda. In Las Vegas on Tuesday, she was unafraid to court controversy on an issue dear to her — families and children — by saying that she would go beyond President Obama’s executive action on immigration and try to protect tens of thousands of parents who are still facing deportation.

It was a vivid contrast to a low point in 2007, at a Democratic primary debate, when she avoided taking a clear stand on an issue that was similarly divisive among voters: driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants.

She has no reason to be reserved. I don't think she has been as reserved in the past as the article makes her out to be, but overall worth the read. Democrats are in a great place and Clinton is out there doing great work talking about moving the country forward.

1. Looks like the the issue, then, is who do we believe will actually do, or try to do, the campaign

promises or statements or positions they camapign on - once they are in office.
We are starting what looks like a loooong spell of campaign blather, blather that is tailored and fitted and planned by campaign strategists and advisers (for some candidates).

Talking is one thing, following through is quite another.

You are ignoring her record. And, you are ignoring Sander's record.

You are expecting a higher standard from Clinton.

They would have had an impact if done at the appropriate time, fake or not. He just isn't very bright.

4. Sorry, but all I hear are promises on the easiest of topics, children and families. ~sigh~

Every Democratic candidate cares about children and families and womens' rights.

The topics that are hardest to tackle but need attention the most are regulating banks and commerce, protecting jobs, hell, bringing jobs BACK, and returning our party to its roots.

I'm perpetually unimpressed with the rhetoric coming from this candidate.

She's talking about many issues is a pretty poor reason to be outraged.

11. Her voting record: Did she sponsor any bills to reform financial institutions?

Or campaign financing, or trade in any positive way?

Hillary Clinton's double standard on 'unaccountable money'

Bill and Hillary Clinton are to money what the Gulf of Mexico is to the Mississippi River: the inevitable destination of a large and never-ending flow, which is sometimes polluted.

The latest example comes in the form of donations of $2.35 million to the Clinton Foundation by the chairman of a Canadian uranium company that needed, and got, U.S. government approval to be taken over by a Russian firm that enjoys the favor of Vladimir Putin.

Maybe you can guess who was secretary of state at the time the State Department reviewed the deal. Oh, and those contributions were not publicly disclosed, reports The New York Times, "despite an agreement Mrs. Clinton had struck with the Obama White House to publicly identify all donors."

Maybe it will all turn out to be innocent, but when you conceal something you had promised to reveal, you invite suspicions. And when you and your husband make King Midas look incompetent at accumulating wealth, you raise the question of whether you have any scruples about how you acquire it.

she had the senate, but i think state was really good and i am excited to see her independence, as opposed to comparing her to what bill thinks.

Coming from Democratic individuals directed at Hillary Clinton...I realize the truth does not always ensure exposure for that which is wrong but why twist facts which only further hides the truth...

Hurt causes anger, anger causes confusion, confusion allows for the rage to fester leaving one swinging even at those that are innocent of hurting anyone....

I admire Hillary for a variety of reasons as I do many others, that admiration does not take away the reality that no one in this world can claim perfection, frankly perfection is subject to many pitfalls depending on who is doing the judging....

She has earned my respect as has Sanders but I put no one on a pedestal they are just too flimsy for my peace of mind....
