Obama Risks Screwing Democratic Party And Hurting 2016 Chances Over TPP.

I have supported Obama in every election. But he is so wrong headed on this free trade agreement. I am really angry that the White House is so determined to savage Warren and Sanders over this hideous free trade agreement. It flat sell the country out entirely on the labor front. Wages won't just stagnate they will crash. And the only exports will be millions upon millions of jobs of every category.

It won't make sense to get a professional degree even a medical doctor when you have to compete with other people make 10 cents on the dollar or less. EVERY job will be on the line. And every labor and environmental law will be mute. We will have one world economic government.

I saw first hand what NAFTA did since Clinton when I was at DOL in the 1990's. It was just devastating. This crappy deal is a race below the bottom. And 80% or more of the country will be reduced to 3rd world status.

This POS agreement is A GOD DAMNED REAGAN GOP AGREEMENT.!!!!!! And they are not going to like Obama any more by helping THEM.

That would expose her to serious attacks from the GOP (and other primary challengers in her own party).

She is pretty much trapped by TPP no matter what.

3. Getting the TPP passed is Obama's post-presidency retirement plan.

He sees very clearly how lavishly the Clintons were rewarded for their services to the billionaire class and he want some of that action too. You know he sure as shit isn't going to be going out to build houses for Habitat For Humanity like Jimmy Carter. There's a gravy train to be ridden, and if it takes throwing in his lot with the Repukes on this issue, he's gonna be on it.

to land feet first in a job working in a hedge fund raking in the really big money?

The Clinton's provided extremely well for their daughter's future. Similarly Obama would likely wish the same for his children.

All parents want their children to do well, but only some know how to sell the future of other's children for a truly exceptionally wealthy future for one's own, American quid pro quo politics at it's best.

and I am sure his presidential memoir will put a few million in his pocket, with which I have no problem at all.

He could go teach somewhere - any of the top law/grad schools would pay him very well for a light classroom schedule.

A shortage of cash is never a problem for an ex-president and it's no excuse to sell out in any case. AFAIK the only president who left the office basically broke was Harry Truman.

So Americans will support the GOP in 2016 if Obama continues to push TPP?

I'm not following the logic.

with Clinton, Gore, Bradley, Richardson, and all the others over NAFTA. It was their way of sending a message to the Dems. Nothing else seemed to work with them. Guess we still haven't learned anything.

It's not beneficial to the US, it's not beneficial to the American people, and it sure as hell isn't helpful for the Democratic party.

Some how I do not think most professional jobs are going overseas. I think very few of these jobs would go overseas -- physicians, nurses, physical therapists, government workers, attorneys, bus drivers, police, truck drivers, bartenders, home builders, construction workers, landscapers, plumbers, electricians, baggers or stock clerks at grocery store, roofers, masons, and a whole lot more. Even jobs that could possibly go overseas, will still tend to remain here. For example, lots of customer service jobs could go overseas, but a lot stay right here. Lots of IT jobs could go overseas, but a lot stay right here.

The biggest threat to most jobs nowadays is technology advances, not some trade agreement. Technology allows xrays to be read just about anywhere, yet most are read right here in this country. They could go overseas, but most don't.

I am sure a lot of us will make less than we might have in the past, but we are far from 3rd world. In fact, the 3rd world pretty much looks at people making a little over minimum wage here as 1%ers.

With all that said, I agree with Sanders in that we would be well advised to begin the transition toward a Scandinavian style country.

Former dem blocs like teachers and unions and even greenies have been pushed away over the last 6 years. Maybe Bernie can bring them back.
