Think there might be a connection?
Considering that Hillary has been front and center on the national stage off and on for decades, and the "unbeatable" candidate since 2008 or so, Bernie's jump since announcing strikes me as significant. ymv, of course

(31,221 posts)"good" for everyone, or at least that's the perception. Smugness, with a dash of know-it-all seems to be the order of the day for the Nader/Kucinich/Sanders faction. If Hillary is nominated, and there are no election shenanigans, she will be the first female POTUS. You heard it here first.

And I agree, none of those you mentioned has a snowball's chance in hell of being elected, including Bernie. But Bernie is the more interesting story right now and I enjoy seeing him have some success early in this race.

(31,221 posts)they should have some outsized influence over the body politick? You routinely hear the term "Turd Way" bandied about here, and one can only assume it refers to moderate and conservative Dems. But if that demo outnumbers "liberal" & "very liberal" (significantly), how does the minority tell the majority what to do?

(49,945 posts)The term 'liberal' has been been tarnished so people avoid it. But many studies have shown that Americans are more liberal than they think.
Once people understand that, they will see that the people they have chosen to represent them, may not actually represent them.

(37,154 posts)I don't count myself as either a "Bernie supporter" or a "Hillary supporter". My views are probably closer to Sanders' than to Clinton's, but I think it would take a 9.0-on-the-Richter-scale groundswell for him to beat her in the primaries.
So let her beat him in the primaries. Frankly, I think it will make her a better candidate than she would be without it.

Bernie is currently polling higher with the general population (and he's still VERY unknown) than he is within Democratic polls.
Bernie will be polling higher a few months from now than he is currently. How much higher is the question mark. I hope it's a hell of a lot.
