What an I N C R E D I B L Y damaging assertion Jeb "I'm my own man" Bush made this week in front of a group of Manhattan financial fat cats.
After spending months distancing himself from his familys political legacy, Jeb Bush surprised a group of Manhattan financiers this week by naming his brother, former president George W. Bush, as his most influential counselor on U.S.-Israel policy.
If you want to know who I listen to for advice, its him, Bush said Tuesday, speaking to a crowd of high-powered investors at the Metropolitan Club, according to four people present. The Republicans in the room spoke on the condition of anonymity to divulge information about the private meeting.
.....
Tuesdays session was organized by GOP mega-donor Paul Singer and his advisers so their associates could hear from Bush. ........
The question that led to Bushs response was about how much he relied on (former secretary of state James) Baker, a respected party figure and longtime Bush family friend. During his speech in March to the group J Street, Baker criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not backing a two-state solution.
.....
Participants said the reception at the club was mostly encouraging, but one attendee said he was stunned to hear Jeb Bush specifically mention George W. Bush as his go-to adviser. I started looking around and wondering if people were recording it. It was jarring, the attendee said. If video of it got out, itd be devastating.
The take-home message on Jeb Bush: he ain't "the smart one" after all.
But he does know how to vacuum up millions of "non" campaign dollars without "running an actual campaign", end-running around campaign finance laws, steering obscene amounts of money into steamrolling over everyone else, and running out the clock for the media to investigate his many, many shady business dealings, both inside and outside the Florida governor's office.
"There's an old saying in Tennessee I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee that says, fool me once, shame on shame on you. Fool me you can't get fooled again." President George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

(45,251 posts)1. The clown prince taking foreign policy advice from the clown king who made one of the
most massive, deadly and far-reaching foreign policy blunders in all of US history--and then joked about it.
I never did read Confederacy of Dunces, but the title sure seems to fit.

is throwing the race for the nomination. Why would he even think that people would feel good about him getting foreign policy advice from Dubya?

(9,387 posts)4. I have never forgotten this quote from Jeb from decades ago:
I want to be very wealthy, and I'll be glad to tell you when I've accomplished that goal.
John Ellis Bush, son of the president
After months of wink-wink-nudge-nudge on running his (non) campaign, he's still milking donors for millions. If he doesn't run after fleecing them all this time, there will undoubtedly be hell to pay.
There is so much dirty baggage on him, that if properly examined by mainstream media, would doom this family dynasty for all time.
Been thinking for a while now that this is all a grotesque farce.
Jeb's ego will not risk public humiliation, and now that he is tanking in Iowa, the "juggernaut" is sinking fast.
I would not at all be surprised if he does not run.
With Jeb Bush, it's only about the money. Always has been and always will be.
Take the money and run. Maybe to the Bush compound in Paraguay...
