How hard can it be? Simply avoid mockery of any religion

whose adherents have a tendency to murder people and explode bombs in retaliation for perceived mockery of their beliefs. Obviously it would be insane to produce a Broadway show that subjected such a religion to extreme ridicule, so the producers of "The Book of Mormon" sensibly chose a safe religion to skewer. And if you want to dunk a venerated religious icon in piss, a crucifix is an obvious, safe choice. Or if for the sake of art you want to cover an image of a revered religious figure with elephant shit, choosing the Virgin Mary is not going to get you murdered. Isn't all this just simple common sense?

She should have called her movement a religion. Then nobody would have dared to criticize her.
