Apple still on top as U.S. corporate cash holdings reach $1.73 trillion

Apple remained the cash king in 2014, with $178 billion in cash, or 10.2% of all the cash held by U.S. corporates at year-end, Moody’s Investors Service said Thursday.

Microsoft MSFT, +0.91% took second place, followed by Google GOOG, +1.24% Pfizer PFE, +0.36% and Cisco CIS, +0.59% which collectively held $439 billion in cash, according to a new study by Moody’s. Overall, U.S. non-financial companies held $1.73 trillion in cash, 4% higher than the previous year.

To put it in perspective: “Apple’s $178 billion is greater than the aggregate cash of every industry sector excluding technology and health care/pharmaceuticals,” the study found.

given this information:

1) How much of that cash is held outside of the US?

2) How much of that cash is being taxed here in the US?

i guarantee Apple is 100% compliant with tax law. if you're unhappy about the way they are being taxed then you have to get the laws changed (which might be what you're advocating for). but don't blame Apple.

that abuses its position economically and legally which Apple has been doing both of in spades.

I am voting for Sanders, so maybe, just maybe, yes these legal loop holes will be removed.

The smart watches are a pain in the ass in my business. As a teacher I am now having to check to see if students are wearing them because they are being used to cheat. It is a long way from the old style Macs I used in the computer lab in high school (circa late 80's).
