There's little logic in dwelling on it in presidential politics, except insofar as Supreme Court appointees are concerned. And does anyone believe a Sanders presidency would appoint gundamentalists?
That's not a viewpoint often found in association with the sort of jurists who would uphold the rest of his agenda.

(147,299 posts)The President has no legislative powers whatsoever, except to sign or veto bills.
That's how our system works. All the President can do is propose legislation, and the Congress is free to ignore those proposals.

Even among the self-selected cognoscenti of progressive politics, somehow I repeatedly find myself having to shout in people's faces that we have three branches of government, and that Presidents don't make laws.
