Obama: Fellow Democrats "whoopin" on my free trade push

So which is it, Mr President? Members of Congress are too stupid to understand the draft tpp or they can't access it or they're all lying to for some nefarious purpose and only you know the truth?

President Obama sought to calm progressive fears about his administration's push for free trade on Wednesday, saying critics of the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) have been "whoopin" on the deal - but they simply don't know what they're talking about.

"There have been a bunch of critics about trade deals generally and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and what's interesting is, typically they're my friends coming from my party," the president acknowledged during a speech at the Oregon headquarters of Nike, a company that's strongly supported the proposed deal. "On minimum wage, and on job training, and on clean energy, and on every progressive issue, they're right there with me, and then on this one, they're like whoopin' on it."

Many Democrats opposed to TPP worry it would undermine labor and environmental standards at home and around the world, and that it would push companies to ship U.S. jobs overseas.

But critics of the deal, Mr. Obama said, are flatly "wrong."

historical. the evidence is overwhelming. I've posted quite a bit of it.

How would YOU know? At least I've read all three leaked chapters, a shitload of analysis of the leaked chapters, process documents and the tpa.

You want to say you're for it because you trust President Obama? Fine. But to say he's correct about it when you know nothing whatsoever? Bull. And shit.

Cali had a knee jerk reaction to my very simple post. A post that backed up the article she posted. Anger is really getting the best of some. It is understandable. We are talking real lives here.

And no coffee excuse.

We have been covering a critical case in court. Yup it is criminal but it clearly involves speech and association.

So a tad on the tired side.

Getting dinner, going home, working on video uploads, get the last two to three paras written... Edit and post at the paper.

On the bright side we read the judge right.

And in all honest, cali is one of the best posters here. Her knee jerk reaction is from her passion. Sometimes way overboard and too quick to react, leading to poor assumptions. Still one of my favorite posters and at one point or another we have all done it. Well, I know I have.

Intellectual property.

You are the one screeching, not I. And if you don't support it, why post that you agree with the president and he's correct. That's a little confusing.

And what hate? I don't hate President Obama at all. I don't attribute ill motives to him regarding this trade deal. I simply oppose it. Hey, I even hate this trade deal. That is not the same as hating a person.

And if you can't talk about an issue with even a modicum of knowledge, why pretend, dear friend?

It isn't confusing at all. My comment was directly related to the article you posted. And yes, he is correct. The screed clearly came from you. Try reading it after you take a break for a little while. You are pretty worked up. Hate and anger are normally the tow reasons people fly off the handle like you did. My comment was directly associated with the article in your op and my comment is correct. As is Obama knowing who his opposition is. Your assumptions are way off base. But that is what happens when one tries to flex in the manner you are.

"And if you can't talk about an issue with even a modicum of knowledge, why pretend" Really says a lot about where you are today. Specially considering how wrong you are here with your assumptions.

But if we're going to keep consuming crap made in other countries at bargain basement costs we need to have jobs. Here. In the US. For Americans.

We can't support an economy based on working at wally world or flipping burgers. We actually have to produce. Something. Otherwise all these treaties aren't worth the digital media they're produced on (by slave labor in some Asian hellhole).

I could only think that his nickname needs to be "Slick" because he has obviously seized that moniker from Bill Clinton.

He also accused his Democratic opponents on TPP of lying -- said they are just "making things up" about the bill.

It was sick. Just sickening.

The majority of the workers in this country anymore. I don't know what the future payoff is, but even if in the billions he is selling us and his soul pretty cheaply IMO (his self respect has to be around zero after the last few weeks, lord knows my respect for him has dropped to that basement level).
