The whole story about labor and environmental standards for TPP is that they will be equal to countries like Vietnam, China or other countries. So if you have a minimum wage of 53 cents and hour and virtually no environmental laws the standards will be consistent with that trading country. So if your standards are higher you will be in competition with THAT standard.
The trouble is that all you get is a half truth about what protections TPP will be. That is like being a football player who weighs 150 pounds facing a 300 pounder.
TPP will never bring our standards up. We can only go down no matter how it is presented. It is like calling arsenic a food supplement.

In brief, you have no idea what you're talking about, so never mind.

(23,946 posts)Japan is high wage, high consumer, huge economy, with high environmental standards.
And then there is Canada, Australia, New Zealand.
Or should the emerging Tigers, and Japan, just be left to be swallowed up by China?

BTW the minimum wage in Canada, New Zealand, Japan, and the United States won't go down to 53 cents per hour.
