Bachelors for Wallace

Henry Wallace was by far the most progressive person to have ever served as Vice President and he was very nearly President. FDR dumped him for more centrist Harry Truman as his running mate in 1944 and then promptly died.

Wallace ran as a Progressive Party candidate for President in 1948 and one of his supporting groups was the first notable gay-rights group involved in a Presidential campaign... though probably with no overt reference to homosexuality. (The correct term of the era.)

The group's name tickles me. Bachelors for Wallace.

So here's to you, Bachelors for Wallace. Perhaps you will not all remain bachelors in the future. (Bachelor just means "unmarried man" so a same-sex male marriage eliminates two bachelors.)
