I am so pleased that my dear friends, my sister, my husband's uncle, and countless strangers I will never meet are getting this support. I am thrilled beyond words. Thank you Obama for your bravery, I really love that you are my president.

(61,608 posts)I appreciate the president's comments, I really do. I don't appreciate having my votes left up to the states. Every state in the southeast - and many other parts of the country as well - now have constitutional amendments outlawing marriage for gay people. My state just changed its constitution to outlaw civil unions and domestic unions for everybody too.
I'm in tears today but for a completely different reason than yours. Sorry to be a downer.
