I'm straight, I'm in tears, and I'm so very very happy

I am so pleased that my dear friends, my sister, my husband's uncle, and countless strangers I will never meet are getting this support. I am thrilled beyond words. Thank you Obama for your bravery, I really love that you are my president.

I have already emailed the President and Vice President with my thanks. I'm very proud of their courage and convictions.

I am happy that Obama has done this because it affects so many people that *I* care about. Family, friends, strangers, etc.

Equality...it just makes sense!

I appreciate the president's comments, I really do. I don't appreciate having my votes left up to the states. Every state in the southeast - and many other parts of the country as well - now have constitutional amendments outlawing marriage for gay people. My state just changed its constitution to outlaw civil unions and domestic unions for everybody too.

I'm in tears today but for a completely different reason than yours. Sorry to be a downer.

If it were not, and it was federal, we wouldn't have gay marriage anywhere. At least it exists in 8 states. I am sorry for your situation, come to Maryland! We will have you!
