Despite mounting concern that Willingham was innocent, the former Texas governor Rick Perry refused to stay his execution. In 2009, after an investigation by the Texas Forensic Science Commission found that the arson evidence was faulty, Perry replaced the boards chairman and two other members and called Willingham a monster.

But abusing one's wife is *NOT* grounds for execution.
PBS' "Frontline" did a documentary on this case, and they interviewed people who claimed Willingham "deserved" to be executed, according to these "Kill 'em all, let god sort 'em out" butchers, "To hell with science and fake testimony, this guy killed his kids!"
