The Bundy Ranch standoff was evidence of something deeply unmoored

I don't care how loudly ISIS claims credit, they can't have this guy.

The arrest affidavit states that detectives were able to match fingerprints on the envelopes to Klinkel, who has an extensive, multi-state criminal history. Inside the envelope, there was a piece of loose-leaf notebook paper, and when the JCC staff started to unfold the letter, "she noticed more powder and the word 'ENEMIES.'" The affidavit states that the letter included the sentence, "This Goyim is enjoying the blood of her enemies for Passover."

Brother Klinkel had an interesting answer for the cops when they booked his felonious ass.

When advised of his Miranda Rights, the affidavit states, "Klinkel also advised me that he was a Sovereign Citizen and that these rights did not pertain to him."

I don't think he has the hang of this whole "inalienable rights" thing, yet.

There's a wildness in the land that is being drowned out by the boogedy-boogedy of the people who want the country scared of outside threats. The Bundy Ranch standoff was evidence of something deeply unmoored that is drifting further out of control. In a decade or so, it's going to seem amazing that we let those events occur the way they did.

State by state, the Far Right is stripping women of their reproductive rights, people of color are losing their right to vote and now they are literally taking over Federal lands.

Indeed, the BLM has pretty much stopped managing or patrolling a vast, southeastern corner of the state — centered in the Gold Butte region — because of safety concerns.

The standoff, and now a year of silence from the BLM and the region's U.S. Attorney, has reinvigorated what's often called the "sovereign citizen movement" on Western lands. One of its goals is for states and local sheriffs to take over management of federal public lands; this year, nearly a dozen legislatures in Western states have considered bills that seek to transfer ownership of federal lands to the states.

Nevada's bill, sponsored by Republican state Assemblywoman Michelle Fiore, has some momentum behind it. Speaking on a show she hosts on a Las Vegas conservative news talk station, Fiore said the effort was about getting "our land back in the hands of the people, where it belongs."

The bulk of the state of Nevada is federal land open to various public uses — but the government's management of it, in this state where distrust of Washington, D.C., runs deep, long has been controversial.

Near the Bundy ranch in southern Nevada, homemade signs like this are a testament to the fact that the BLM has completely pulled out of the area in the year since the armed standoff over cattle grazing.

I keep hearing that one of these days the Feds are going to Do Something About Bundy. It's been a year. I wonder how long they plan to let him and his gang of conservative thugs play Local Warlord.

4. I don't think I'll ever understand how you can do this to federal officials:

And not have the law come down on you immediately, like a fucking ton of bricks, much less go free indefinitely while you continue to give all federal authority a giant middle finger and throw "freedom parties."

There'd have been freakin' Blackhawks and Tanks if those 'protesters' were of any descent other than caucasian.

The justice dept set a bad precedent by not jumping on that mofo with the gun, along with the rest of his 'illegals' (there, we can use that term on those bastards as well), and enforcing the law (That cloven was trespassing had to be forcibly removed if necessary).
