A Houston-area psychologist is under investigation after accusations surfaced that she was not giving proper psychological evaluations to law enforcement applicants as mandated by state law.

State Law requires all law enforcement officers to undergo a personality test, psychotherapy test and a face to face evaluation by a certified psychologist.

According to TCOLE, "After weeks of investigation... exams were certified to have been conducted, when in fact they had not been completed or failed to meet professionally recognized standards and law."

"The public puts their trust in law enforcement and we have to be of sound mind and body," said Sgt. Paul Bruce with the Harris County Deputies Organization. "It's disturbing, very disturbing."

be cops had major problems show up? Maybe they'd have trouble ever finding anyone they could hire if it was aboveboard? That would certainly explain a lot.

So all over the country where that kind of evaluation is required, it's falsified or the standards relaxed so it's a joke. I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't put a whole heck of a lot of trust in our "forces" down here (Houston has constables, deputies, and the HPD). I do know a couple of deputies (on a shoot-the-breeze basis), but I couldn't vouch for stability on the job.
