My wife, my daughters, and I have the iCloud locater app on our iphones.
My wife uses it regularly, not exactly spying but knowing when someone is on their way home, how to find them in a large area, etc.
Still, it's a little weird that we all can see exactly where each other are at any time.
I can see the benefits and the girls don't mind (which is weird to me as I didn't want my parents to know anything about my whereabouts when I was a teen).

I don't use it but I'm find with families using it.
I think a healthy family wouldn't have any issues with it whatsoever, especially in this world where they aren't physically together as much as they were in generations passed.
Why on earth would anyone not want the rest of their family to be able to find them or know where they are???

(7,107 posts)I couldn't imagine willingly letting my parents track me (if the technology existed way back then).
Teens today have a totally different mindset about privacy though. I wonder if that also makes them less worried about government surveillance.
Still, it's a great tool. I've found my daughter on a long beach easily and it's easy to find each other at say the New Orleans Jazz Fest events.

(507 posts)We played around with it when we were looking at ways to keep my FIL safe (MS dementia). It isn't of any real use in regards to the FIL but my husband, my MIL and I have kept the app and it gives everyone peace of mind just knowing where the person looking out for you is.
Our kids think it is "creepy".
