Who knew that Paul Ryan was so concerned about labor standards?

And yes the TPA looks like it will pass soon, followed in short order by the TPP. And yes, the real vote on this is TPA. It passes and the the TPP is all but assured passage no matter how good or bad it is.

Big win for President Obama, the next president, Repukes and corporations. Big loss for labor, internet freedom, generic drug production and use- to mention just a few.

Just enough dems will vote for TPA in the House for it to pass by a meager handful of votes, followed by a TPP vote that exactly mirrors that. How do we know? Look to the past.

But hey, when so many republicans and corporations push for something so indefatigably, you know it's gotta be a good thing.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Sunday that an effort to give President Obama the ability to fast-track trade deals his administration is currently negotiating is moving along.

"We will have the votes. We're doing very well. We're gaining a lot of steam and momentum," Ryan said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Ryan argued Sunday that the TPP, a trade deal between the U.S. and 11 other Pacific Rim nations, would allow america to have greater influence on labor standards and other issues through trade.

Ryan said that the U.S. has 150 guidelines for labor that are required in every trade agreement, along with other methods to hold nations accountable in labor disputes.

it's interesting to me that some of the people who are pro-TPA and TPP, are some of the people here who speak loudest about the dangers of republican control and the evils of republicans. Yet they carve out a big exception when it comes to TPA and TPP.
