The President's message on gay marriage took a lot of courage. It was the right thing to do, but he

could have taken the easy political path and be noncommittal. Instead he did the right thing, he stood up for civil rights.

I would hope that Congressional Democrats take note. For years for a significant number of Democrats in Congress have been caving into republicans, out of fear it would "hurt them politically". Perhaps this is the watershed moment when Democrats will actually grow a spine.

To be honest the gay marriage thing is not relevant to me, and I have other issues and priorities that take precedence and are much more important to me on a personal level. That said, I believe this action on the presidents part is a good sign and perhaps a signal that Obama will be more progressive and liberal in a second term, and be a bolder and more "take no prisoners" type of president, which is sorely needed and would be a welcome change. Maybe President Obama has come to realize the republicans are not going to assist him or help him in any case, and its time to fight fire with fire. Fuck the republicans and their attempts to de-evolve the United States. They should be treated as enemies of democracy and freedom at this point. They are hopeless and its like trying to negotiate with a caveman who doesn't know anything but grunting and violence.
