Samurai sword-wielding child-porn suspect stabs computer during raid

A 21-year-old Flagler County man suspected of viewing violent child porn stabbed his desktop computer with a samurai sword when federal agents with a search warrant raided his home this week.

Kamil Mezalka of Palm Coast ignored commands to drop the sword when agents entered his home Tuesday. But he was eventually detained.

Hundreds of images of child sex abuse were found on his computer, according to the U. S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida.

Mezalka faces a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted of receiving child pornography over the Internet.

The thing you want to destroy inside a PC is the hard disk(s) which are where all your data is stored, and hard disks are actually pretty small targets.

They've also got hard metal shells around the disks, so I'd give the disks a 99% chance of surviving.

All the cops have to do is pull the disks out, put them in another PC, and copy them. If that doesn't work, a forensic recovery service would probably be able to pull the data off of them.
