Anyone else watching? I just had the boob tube on recently, and caught a couple episodes of this - very interesting and eye-opening.
Separately, I think it's a testament to the poor state of our domestic media that Al Jazeera seems to do a far better job of covering issues relating to socioeconomically lower and middle class Americans than the celebutainment segments by dolled-up newsreaders on 60 Minutes and those other fake new channels.

(75,480 posts)justice and other issues around the world. Considering it gets its funding from an oil monarchy, it does a really good job. Too bad our corporation run media can't even match a candle to them on this.

And if they did change it, I think they'd do pretty well. Not everybody would rather watch real news than E!, but the old CNN used to be popular, and like you said, Al Jazeera does a much better job of covering issues that are important to people at the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder. While I am--in no way whatsoever--comparing Al Jazeera documentaries to shows like Lockup and Cops, there'd probably be some overlap between their target audiences if the channel had a different name. And, in addition, anybody who is interested in real news, including news from beyond our own borders, would love it too, if only....
