...it should also be destroyed. Conservatism is an obstacle to Progressive programs and to a bright and better future. But it is not just that. It is a cancer, a disease on the American Body Politic, and it should be removed. We are confronted by an obstacle that will not allow itself to be moved around or through or above. It continues to fester and grow and move constantly in our way. Dominionist Right-Wing Conservatives have declared themselves the enemy of any who are not like themselves. It is plain to me that they are at war with the rest of us and we are considered by them to be less than dirt. Well you know what, I look at them in the same way.
They hate me and my people, and I hate them.
If you cannot go around, or through, or above such an obstacle, what else can be done with it? You remove it, eliminate it from being a problem now and in the future. If we do not organize now into an Anti Dominionist Movement that is aggressive and means business, then we might as well kiss our country, our beloved Constitution, and our asses, goodbye as a theocratic fascist Christian state has been successively established.
You cannot argue with them, you cannot reason with them, they will not budge. And if anyone truly thinks that elections will solve this problem then they have learned nothing from the last few elections. Elections have been and will continue to be stolen by the Republicans.
Am I the only person on the planet who thinks and feels this way? Is there no one who will stand with me against the Conservative Right-Wing Dominionist enemy? Is there no one else who sees what I see?

(60 posts)Secular authoritarianism...it is an imperative to maintaining the fundamental construct of our nation.
Who cares if we come off as dogmatic? We know we are not.
Useless and influential intellectuals will call us fanatics or say we're obsessed with a state religion...oh, well.
The age of enlightenment is long over. We're lucky we have the bill of rights...very lucky.
I don't want to lose it to religion either.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.
I voted to leave it as I don't see how you broke TOS. Making a suggestion here - measure your words and how you approach things.
I'm on board. I've found quoting Republican Gomorrah to be quite effective at getting my point across.
High lighting Dobson, connecting into the Prince/Devos clan (they've been funding this bullshit Dominionst agenda for years), etc etc.
The minute you bring up Erik Prince (he used to wn the company Blackwater) you gain allies.
I'm a UU and have been in the Braintree Church ( the one Abigail Adams father was a pastor at) - I'm a believer in the philosophy of a Jewish Rabbi - but much like John Adams - see no need for the words of that person (of two human beings none of that virgin birth nonsense for me) to be imprinted on the laws of America.
Dominionists are at war with the Founding Fathers desire to not see religion imposed on the people of this country in a way that gives us bullshit like the 100 years war.
So welcome to DU! There are some UUs here as well as agnostics and atheists and they see things as they are. They see these people who manipulate and twist to drive a Christian Theocratic Government into America.
Just quote Republican Gomorrah, The Family, etc etc when you post - and when all else fails go to Erik Prince.
What do you think of Maverick PAC? You familiar with it it? He spoke at their big meeting last September. And his words were kind of chilling. And these are the "under 40 Republicans" that are getting into local and state government and attacking from the under belly. We've got one on our local school board that my local No Labels chapter is going after with a vengeance.
One more thing - when you have a former Governor of Utah who is a Mormon and a former ambassador to China in the Obama Administration and Joe Manchin coming together to wake people up - you have the beginning of a movement. Look into a local No Labels chapter - in NJ we are pulling from all political ideology and saying "this is what we agree on. How can we stop Christie - how can we stop the TEAS (I think they are Dominionst in core philosophy) and grab hold of our local governments now in case we have a Religious freak like Ted Cruz as the President.
Christie is just rotten - but Cruz - is frightening.
William King
(42 posts)...and causes them to call me many labels. I get that . I feel like I am a voice crying in the wilderness. We have got to take the Dominionist threat seriously and mean business in confronting them. If we do not, all of us will find ourselves in a terrible position that we may not recover from. The Dominionists are not our friends, and they intend to do us "undesirables": liberals, progressives, atheists, other Christians, and people of other faiths--great harm.
Does no one understand that a case can be made that America in 2015 is very much like late 20s and early 30's Weimar Republic Germany? I don't care if you tell me that I am a troll or that I need to take it down a notch or that I need to lay off coffee (I do not drink that much joe anyway). This issue is of great concern to me and I feel that nothing much is being done about it. The Media is not paying attention to this issue. The wider public is not aware of what is going on I feel. The band plays on and everything is just fine. Well it most certainly is not!!
My question is this. Do any of you want to find yourselves in a position where you could defend yourself from a fascist controlled state but could not because YOU DID NOTHING TO PREPARE OR PREVENT IT!!
Go ahead, tell me to calm down again. I don't really give a damn.
JustAnotherGen
(33,268 posts)That's part of the problem - they've been rewarded by having their pundits speak/appear.
Did Keith Olbermann get it? You bet.
Does Maddow? You bet.
But can I get Diane Sawyer to see it and report on it? Nope.
And so the masses keep carrying water and pretending like all is well in Whoville when it is not.
William King
(42 posts)...I have sent e-mails to CNN reporters but so far not the least bit of reporting on Dominionism.
Thank you JustAnotherGen for your replies and advice. What is this No organization you mentioned?
randys1
(16,286 posts)you said it in a more definitive way.
I am not for violence, but I do believe these people you speak of are never going to change and are going to cause bigger and bigger problems as we go along.
I think many of them will act out violently if Gay marriage is made the law of the land, for instance.
I feel you...i do
William King
(42 posts)...the Dominionists will resort to violence if they do not get their way, to ensure that they get their way.
For the most part, I agree with most everyone that violence is deplorable. But having said that, I also must say that violence is not always avoidable. We must be realistic. I understand human nature too much as a student of anthropology and an understanding of sociology that there is always going to be some asshole somewhere who wants to start some shit. Plus, I understand my own nature and character enough to know that I am not a pacifist, I will not take someone getting in my face lying down. I am just not a doormat, it's just not in my nature. So, I am not above engaging in violence to either defend myself or others. And if that makes others uncomfortable here at DU, also know that I just do not care.
I look at this way: seeing what has gone on historically in the past and what is going on today in the Middle East, in regards to one group of human beings running roughshod over the rights of other human beings, it behooves me that most of my fellow progressives seem to me to be unwilling to defend themselves when necessary. Joining hands and singing cum-ba-ya does not always work. Especially when there are organized religious extremists banging you over the head with a two-by-four. I am going to pick up a bigger stick and swing back and hope that I kill the sob!! And I say that unapologetically. I just do not like bullies.

JustAnotherGen
(33,268 posts)But Ted Cruz and Rick Santorum are big promoters of the religious philosophy.
Santorum is close personal friends of Erik Prince and much of the funding of his 2012 campaign cme from the Devos/Prince connection.
Look into "Dutch Mafia" in Western Michigan and how James Dobson's focus on the Family came to be so widely promoted and given a presence on the Political Stage.
OP isn't asking for an end to Religion - he's asking for an end to the Dominionist Political Theory on the National Stage.
Can we not defend ourselves from those who call for our oppression and death?
There is a time to turn one's cheek - there is a time for defense.
It's an early November morning and Ted Cruz wins the White House and has a heavily Dominionist House ad Republican Senate.
Scary huh? The Blackwater guy is now running America. Because that IS who would be running things.

(33,268 posts)For the naysayers on this thread - I highly suggest you start there.
A few months back two things were happening around the same time -
A pizza parlor owner got a huge payola and kudos from Right Wing Media for refusing to serve gay weddings.
On the sideline - a woman had her baby ripped from her body and left for dead. She survived, the almost full term baby did not. If you gave to her Go Fund Me (my husband and I did) and saw the comments - many of us were stridently pro choice but saw the horror in what happened to her.
Why was the "Right" so quiet? She wasn't married. She didn't rise to the level of "victim" that a man who came from a place of hatred did.
These people - they reward hatred - and have little tolerance for women unless they are "good girls" who step and fetch, obey, and do as they are told.
Dominionsts snicker at pain. They were raised by Rushdooney - not Spock. Rushdooney encourage beating children so they learn early to be good little authoritarians.
Yet we call the op authoritarian? Ha! That's rich! Dominionsts are sick bastards who are too wet to step on and too low to kick. It's not part of the fabric of our country. Rushdooney is post the Armenian Genocide.
Look it up. The Founding Fathers never wanted "Praise Jesus" to be said every other phrase on the Floor of the House. These people pretty much want to mandate that. Sick, sick, sick and against everything Liberals and Progressives believe.
They are against us.
William King
(42 posts)...and they are a scary bunch of people. Their perceived buffoonery masks their very serious intent. Not taking them seriously or simply ridiculing them or underestimating them is a very serious mistake we cannot afford to make. What is at stake is our lives, our Republic, and the future of our descendants and planet.

(42 posts)...nearly one in every 3 "Americans" want a theocracy.
"A national poll recently conducted by Huffington Post and YouGov found that one third of Americans support making Christianity the official religion of their home states.
What's more, 32 percent said they would favor a constitutional amendment, which would make Christianity the official religion of the United States, while 52 percent said they would not."
http://jonathanturley.org/2013/04/08/survey-34-percent-of-americans-want-christianity-made-official-religion/
I do not consider these theocrats Americans. To me they are traitors. So one third of our national population is made up of treasonous theocrats--Dominionists.
To ignore that is to risk great danger to our American Republic.

(6,098 posts)And their version of Christian Sharia Law is what we'll end up with, an absolute theocracy based around the 15th century. They will dismantle progress and shove women, minorities, and LGBT people to the back of the bus. No more personal rights unless it's based in ancient Christian bullshit. They're already working on it, hence the legislation in DC that employers should be able to fire women for using birth control. "Religious freedom" will allow you a license to discriminate. You won't have to serve anyone in your place of business if you don't like something about them. Just call it "religious freedom." Girls are shamed for baring their arms in school - they might as well wear burkas.
It's already begun.
