I really mean this--- I sincerely had it in mind not to go after Bernie supporters. I truly like Bernie and I get why people support him. Plus---I love most of his supporters--- Will Pitt--that's you.
BUT holy shit--- you mention Hillary---you mention a celeb endorsing Hillary, and here come the Bots.
I don't think I've ever seen so many right wing links on DU since Bernie announced his candidacy. Breitbart type links to knock down Hillary just to build Bernie up.
Not saying this is all Bernie Supporters--- but man it's getting stuffy around here.

(7,865 posts)For the last couple of years we have had the campaign of Hillary the Inevitable part II and no other announced candidate. Progressives tend to care about policy and issues more than personality. When a well known progressive who has made his bones sticking up to the banks and Wallstreet announced what do you think would happen.
If anything this is less about Hillery and more about people latching onn to anyone willing to stand up to the monied elite at a time when the disparity of incomes is almost as high as it has ever been. Yes, people are emotional about this. Anyone serious or passionate about politics is going to get a bit wild in the tongue when they don't feel anyone is standing up for them.
Personally though I think this thread should probably be locked. It isn't about the candidate or his policies and seems directed at mocking those that support him.

NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)I have no clue why you would want to. A person calling someone names on the internet should influence your principals. Not telling you anything you don't already know.
I'm also not sure the op called you a name. It's pretty clear to all of us that there are a few extremely loud disruptors claiming to be Sanders supporters. I'm not sure why people don't understand that on du being a Hillary supporter puts one in the extreme minority. DU is not representative of the country yet some want to act as if it is. Sanders has overwhelming support here, as he should. Yet a select few are running around with their hair on fire and allow zero positive talk of Hillary.

You trash Bernie with your op about how he's doing nothing but "promising free ice cream and acting like a jr. high kid, and then you start to whinge about this?
And bullshit about the right wing links. Hillary supporters call everything right wing- Vanity Fair, Slate, Salon, the Atlantic, Vox- I've been told by HRC supporters that they're all right wing. Zephyr Teachout? Right Wing. Doyle McManus? Right wing.
I haven't posted a single solitary thing critical of HRC that comes from a right wing source but the bullshit is thrown out EVERY TIME that it's right wing.

NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)It was an eye opener. Just yesterday, there was a post here claiming they had a Clinton quote claiming she supported the privatization of Social Security. They quickly had their ass handed to them. Even after that, one poster kept going on in that thread as if it should just be assumed, even if the op was based on a complete lack of comprehension. Then there is the Gowdy email/Benghazi and the lovers of the msm crowd. They are both one in the same. I actually don't mind them. For every right winger spreading those smears Clintons favorability rises. Someone this morning tried to make an issue of Clinton campaigning in Texas.
That being said, these people are a very loud minority of Sanders supporters. They are not here for honest reasons. Most people who say they will be voting for him in the primary are excellent and they also support Hillary.

stevenleser
(32,886 posts)He has said several times he doesn't want his campaign to be about attacking Hillary.
But he can't get his supporters to follow him in that respect.
If he can't get the folks who say they think he is great to follow his example on something, how is he going to get anything done with the Republican congress?
whatchamacallit
(15,558 posts)Yes, the posting behavior of some people on an internet forum is indicative of Sander's inability to lead.
Desperate or deluded? I can't tell.
sufrommich
(22,871 posts)posters on DU?? It has zero to do with his "leadership abilities",that's just ridiculous hyperbole. All of DU needs to get a grip, you're all wading into irrelevance when you make silly arguments based on DU behavior.
stevenleser
(32,886 posts)I believe we begin to get a picture of his leadership abilities.
He can't get his most ardent followers to follow his lead. He can't get legislation passed. And he is running not just on being a typical Democrat, he is running on the implied suggestion that he can get transformative progressive legislation passed, through a Republican congress no less.
That would require superhuman leadership ability, assuming it could be done at all.
So I think it makes sense to continuously evaluate his leadership abilities. Otherwise, what is the reason for his candidacy? Why is he running?
sufrommich
(22,871 posts)internet by anonymous posters to Sanders. You get paid to make informed arguments in favor of democrats, that's a respectable position, when you start arguing that posters on DU are proof of a politician's abilities,it's time to step away from DU for a bit.
stevenleser
(32,886 posts)in person, etc?
Do you think I will find Bernie supporters in general behaving substantially differently anywhere?
He seems to attract the "more-progressive-than-thou" folks to his candidacy who have magical thinking that indicates that all he has to do is walk up to a microphone, say "We're going to pass this progressive legislation!" and Republicans will vote for it.
There are a lot of ways to gauge leadership. One of the simple ways is to see whether people who say they support you actually follow you.
I stand by what I said. The fact that folks here who support him don't seem to follow him is a statement on his leadership ability.

GummyBearz
(2,931 posts)How does she do that without going through congress? Is that another thing in a long list of questions she does not need to answer? Or does it fall under her plan to make a plan? Or maybe... just maybe, she doesn't give a shit about the middle class and will actually introduce pro-1%er legislation that her GOP friends will all pass.. hmm, I wonder
