maybe the cat kingdom doesn't want to admit it - but there are good nurses among them! I had a nurse kitty myself - they are amazing.
I will bet that he is offering purrs which are healing - purrs are the same frequency as medical devices used to speed bone healing.

my kitty; Smokey would be right along side of me.

One particular night, though I was feverish, I could not get warm enough. I was shivering with a terrible headache, and sick to my stomach. My husband covered me with blankets, and I finally dozed off in a semi-upright position.

Some time later, I awoke to a weight on my bald head. Smokey had decided to curl up right there on top. I will never know her reasoning...was it the body heat escaping from my bare scalp that drew her there, or was she trying to comfort me in my distress?

I like to think it was the latter.
