Jeb Bush: It's 'Just Really Arrogant' To Say The Science Is Decided On Climate Change"Look, first of all, the climate is changing. I don't think the science is clear what percentage is man-made and what percentage is natural. It's convoluted. And for the people to say the science is decided on, this is just really arrogant, to be honest with you," he said.
"It's this intellectual arrogance that now you can't even have a conversation about it. The climate is changing, and we need to adapt to that reality," he said.

(37,160 posts)Either way, doesn't it make sense to try to mitigate the effects?
Oh, right. Money.

(35,699 posts)Just as he did on Iraq. The only Republican talking point he left out is "I am not a scientist, so I can't say one way or the other."

(65,010 posts)Let's call it a tie. Silverspoon I is just as smart as Silverspoon II. Which is to say, not smart at all.

(33,688 posts)GHWB was a lying, sneaking, treacherous, double-dealing shitweasel of the highest order but he was not dumb.
All of his kids, at least the male ones, are dumber than a bag of hair. What's with that?

(10,270 posts)(ON EDIT) yes, i cut down and make jokes. I also understand that all parents love their kids. But to expect that love alone makes all kids all different kinds of smart, is just stupid.

(12,504 posts)Hey, if I'm in a room full of idiots and I announce that 2+2=4, and that happens to be the right answer, you bet I'm going to strut around and arrogantly announce that I was right and everyone else is just plain ignorant of looking at any facts.

(20,166 posts)Well, actually, quite a few beers with (like 12 or 14), because that's the only way his stupid comments might begin to make some kind of sense to me.

(16,423 posts)Say it: What makes you qualified to take part in scientific discussions?
Did you study a scientific subject? Do you have job-experience in a scientific subject?

(15,805 posts)Raise your hand if you want to waste your time talking to crackpots and idiots about the Flat Earth, or debate if our planet is revolving around the sun? He's already adopted the Republican cop-out line that he's not a scientist, so the 'arrogance' is his belief that anyone cares what he has to say on a subject that he says he knows nothing about?

(46,092 posts)Consider that Jebbie.

(20,841 posts)They don't understand on purpose. The concept of what percentage is natural and what percentage is man-made on a short term basis doesn't really make sense to the whole climate science field. It's true that it's convoluted, but it is also true the overall long term driver is pretty much due to one factor... carbon dioxide effluence from people burning fossil fuel.

(23,730 posts)it's also cute that he's trying to frame it as some resurgent technocracy: Jebbie, the corporations' pet whitecoats were the ones who said you could never talk back to them, and they're all taking Exxon money now

(19,372 posts)Of course, he like most RWers believe any such change is natural and we can't change it, only "adapt" to it. So I guess we should just all sell our beachfront property and buy mansions on higher ground to adapt. I'm sure that's what Jeb tells all his friends.
