LAPD officer who kicked Alesia Thomas to death now on trial

"I'm going to punt you in your ******."

These were the words of LAPD Officer Mary O'Callaghan to Alesia Thomas. Handcuffed with her legs restrained, Alesia can be seen getting punched in the throat by Officer O'Callaghan who then delivered on her promise and kicked her directly in her groin - repeatedly. This was nearly 3 years ago.

As O'Callaghan jabbed at the woman's throat with her hand, Thomas looked into the camera with wide eyes. The recording captured Thomas, who also had her legs tied with a nylon hobble restraint, repeatedly saying, “I can’t.”

The video showed O’Callaghan raise her boot and strike Thomas, whose body shook in response. A few minutes later, Thomas’ eyes closed and her head fell backward, the video showed. The recording then cut off.

She died at the hospital that evening. The video of her being assaulted was just released for the first time and is at the link.

12. I'm afraid that many LEOs are just sociopaths.

I think some of them chose the profession for the wrong reasons, have a violent streak in them.

For women, and especially for women of culture, our very history makes it easier to come down on anyone who is historically beaten up (literally and figuratively).

I think of it as a bad gene in our collective cultural DNA, embedded but curable.

The fact that in other nations people live in greater peace and safety tells me it's nurture, not nature.

We have to fight it, malaise, raise our children and ourselves and our neighbors as we know we need to be.

18. Yeah, well we're on to them just a bit now. Oakland, CA citizen group was raising money for helmet

cams, and I've seen one video where cops were hassling a young girl for what seemed to be, yet again, nothing or something minor. No charges, in other words. The folks at www.wecopwatch.com were there and they were damned effectective. The LEOs left without "incident". The Cop watch guy kept saying to the officer...you know who I am...why is she being arrested...this is being filmed...over and over and over.

I mentioned before that the ACLU has a free app now that will stream cell phones I guess in The Cloud or somehow into their servers...so smashing or taking cell phones will not only Not Work, but there will be film of them taking the phone.

This and surveillance cameras give me some hope.
