Soros sees risk of another world war

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/soros-sees-risk-of-another-world-war-2015-05-19

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Billionaire investor George Soros said flatly that he’s concerned about the possibility of another world war

Much depends on the health of the Chinese economy, Soros said in remarks at a Bretton Woods conference at the World Bank.

If China’s efforts to transition to a domestic-demand led economy from an export engine falter, there is a “likelihood” that China’s rulers would foster an external conflict to keep the country together and hold on to power.

Nor do I think they're stupid enough to follow America's example of churning up wars to solve economic problems.

There have been two world wars and they occurred prior to the massive free trade agreements in Europe and North America.

Whatever happens now is just a continuum of the tensions and hatred stirred up because of it. PNAC was let loose to accomplish everything on it's list.

Chinese aggression and said that they have a history of staying within their own boundaries and their main objective is to protect those boundaries. That is still true.

And when we are talking about the corporations in China aren't we talking about our own multinational corporations?

If we have a world war again it is more likely to come from the mess in the ME created by W.

If I am wrong I would like to know what "pressures" are pushing China into causing another world war? What is the reasoning behind this idea.

They've been able to get into (their businesses and corporations) countries in Africa, South America, into Canada, Iran - who knows where else - peacefully. I can't even imagine why they would want to start anything.

People might be upset with me for this, too ..... but the war! mentality seems imo to lie with those who've already started it and are projecting it onto nations that haven't participated or even threatened to. It's odd.

And it's not just about China. It's also Russia, Middle East, instability in Africa, ISIS, Boko Haram, our own right-wing crazies. .
The atmosphere of fear, violence, obliteration of history (ISIS) , disrespect for national boundaries, religious and racial intolerance. . .
Reminds me way, way too much of lead-up to WWII. Plus we get to add in the extra dimension of climate change, water crises, energy issues. . .

I am very grateful that Obama and Kerry are the ones dealing with foreign relations right now.
Just thinking about Republicans in charge right now. . . . shudder

17. China warns US plane to leave airspace over disputed islands
Fri May 22, 2015, 09:22 PM
May 2015

China’s navy has issued multiple warnings to a US surveillance aircraft to leave the airspace over artificial islands Beijing is building to strengthen its claims over disputed territory in the South China Sea.

The messages, witnessed by a US TV crew aboard the P8-A Poseidon surveillance aircraft, came soon after the Pentagon said it was considering military patrols in the region and amid concerns that Chinese activity was raising the risk of a confrontation between Washington and Beijing.

CNN reported that a Chinese naval vessel issued eight warnings to the US plane on Wednesday, in an apparent effort to establish a no-fly zone near the artificial islands. When US pilots pointed out that they were flying through international airspace, an exasperated Chinese radio operator responded: “This is the Chinese navy … you go!”
