“I’m Not Me Anymore” a song about dementia

http://blog.thealzheimerssite.com/im-not-me-anymore/

Jerry Lansdowne was once a songwriter for Johnny Cash, and he now writes a song in honor of the memory of his mother who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. They lyrics of the song “I’m Not Me Anymore” tell the story of Alzheimer’s disease through that of the sufferer. Losing their memories, relationships is the haunting reality of this disease that many have to face.

Watch the video to hear his heartfelt song.

Very powerful- I had to halt it a few times because I couldn't take it. There are many ways to die, and this is one of the few that terrify me. My adult family knows that if I ever get in this situation that I am going to go out on my own terms.

my grandfather suffered and passed thirty one years ago this August.
Now I know that Lewy Body Dementia makes it look like a very nice break.
Hard to believe.

said some really thoughtful things. She was always searching for her grandchildren who were already grown. She thought she was in jail when she was in a very nice nursing home. She could see the emergency room entrance and the police cars with their sirens our of her window.

I was already bawling when I clicked in here to it. It's too close to home for me to play the video all the way thru, but I'll save for another time to listen.

hugs to you, Steve
