Not only has Obama seen an improvement in his approval rating according to Gallup (49% today) - his favorability rating is the highest it's been since 2013.

(1,370 posts)With that said most of the public is clueless as far as the TPP. The media doesn't cover it and the President doesn't want us to see it.

You should probably check your facts before posting nonsense.

(14,524 posts)Ya mean like those opposed to the TPA which EVERY FUCKING REPUBLICAN SENATOR, and only 13 (kinda, sorta like) Democratic Senators voted for? That the kind of "right wing trolls" you referring to?
How's about you call some of those "right wing trolls" out by name? That is, if you have the guts.
Step right up and take swing at it.

(13,340 posts)I used to do a little trolling at some RW sites. Some members there brag about trolling here. Some were very good at doing exactly like this kind of trolling.
So, be all the indignant you want, but they are here, though obviously I was being a bit facetious.

(7,393 posts)I read a stat that if it is above 48% come election time the current president's party usually returns to the WH.

(101,295 posts)Truman was lower - a Republican followed him.
Eisenhower was higher - a Democrat followed him
Reagan was about the same (though his approval went up right at the end of his presidency) - a Republican followed him
Clinton was higher - a Republican followed him
Dubya was lower - a Democrat followed him
I'd say there's no pattern. Only once since ww2 has the same party stayed in power 3 terms in a row.

(99,710 posts)I think it's fair to say if Obama had Bush* like favorability ratings it would be much harder to hold the White House.
muriel_volestrangler
(101,295 posts)and I suppose my classifying Clinton as 'followed by a Republican' is forgetting that Gore won the popular vote, and probably Florida (and thus the presidency too) if only it had been counted properly. But Eisenhower's popularity wasn't enough for Nixon to win after him.

(23,730 posts)or is the argument here that pushing for the TPP is driving up his approval rating?
raindaddy
(1,370 posts)The media refuses to cover it and the President will prosecute our reps if they leek any information to the public.. So I'd say probably not.
How long did it take Bush's ratings to slide after people finally realized he screwed them over with his attack on Iraq?
