Freerepublic's reaction to Romney may be widespread

The crowd sizes being so small for Romney show me that the base is pissed off at the establishment. With the base sitting this one out they would be able to argue that two "moderate" Republican's in a row lost. I know they hate Obama, but if in their eyes Romney is too close to Obama, I think a lot of them will stay home and say "See we should have nominated Santorum".

As absurd as that sounds, I think that is how a lot of them think.

When they nominate a loon, Reagan, Bush, Bush the lesser, they win. Regardless if President Bush actually won or not is irrelevant because he served in the office for two terms. It should have never been close enough to steal with an idiot like that running but it was.

The mouthbreathers come out in droves for the nut and the people in general like a tough guy image where the guy makes hard stands on issues, even if they don't particularly agree with the issue. They like conviction.

They are going to nominate a lunatic in 2016 and they'll probably win. Freepers are generally ignorant but on this, they have it right.

Despite all the BS coming from the media about republicans "rallying" behind Romeny, the fact is the vast majority of republicans can't stand this guy! Reasons range from his religious beliefs being those of a cult, his lying flop flops, his out of touch with the reality, to simply him not being "crazy" enough for the real nuts of the party.

As you said the small size of the crowds he is getting show pretty much just how bad things are for him, and I agree that a whole lot of republicans will be staying home in November, or at least not voting for Romeny but the down ticket candidates.

And the really great thing is it's just getting started. The more people find out about Romeny, and I am positive more and more things like his bullying during high school will be coming out, the more they will find it just to hard to vote for this clown, even if it means losing the WH. While some of the really brain dead base will vote simply because of their hate for president Obama, the majority are not going to have such an easy time of talking themselves into pulling the "Romney" lever come november!

Obama winning would actually be the ONLY thing that could save conservatism, then they could say "see, you need to move further right like your base" (which is insanely scary). If Obama loses to Romney they could kiss conservatism goodbye.

Freepers are right. Mitt Romney doesn't have a core. There is no idea that Romney won't betray. So Freepers are right on Romney, totally wrong about their point of view ever having a real chance in a diverse, successful society. The most important action that a Freeper that has a child can do is teach that child that he or she should be tough on evaluating a person's character, but never, never be intolerant. Although that last observation is something a Freeper wouldn't do, if they really love their children, it is something they must do.
