George Zimmerman's attorney may get evidence Monday, could block public release

An attorney for George Zimmerman, the man charged with murder in the Sanford shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, expects to gain access to new evidence soon, but it may not immediately become public.

In a statement, attorney Mark O'Mara said the first round of documents are expected to be turned over to the defense on Monday as part of a process called discovery.

Normally, when evidence is exchanged between the state and defense it becomes public record, but O'Mara said that may not happen right away in this case.

"Public release... may be delayed as we may be filing a motion to further redact information, and an opportunity to review the discovery is necessary to determine the applicability of that motion," the statement says.

to the public. Florida has some weird laws, but then I guess one could say that about any state.

but also the highest level of corruption.

What that tells me is that the weakness is in the will to enforce the laws. The Florida Bar and the State Attorney's Office have failed the public.
