Kind of: DU's silent majority seems to be to the left of some of the most prolific posters. redgreenandblue May 2015 #1

That is what I learned from the 90 - 10 poll: DU is more liberal than one would sometimes think by reading GD.

That poll was a real eye-opener. I guess it shows that organizing and repeating memes again and again can be very powerful, even when you are a relatively small minority.

And, mind you, that poll was after many liberals had been alert stalked and hounded off this board.

DUers tend to be much more liberal than outsiders (and even the Democratic party at large), which generally leads to more liberal politicians having more popularity here than moderate-leaning politicians. The only thing I find surprising is that almost any positive thread on Sanders (and Warren) with some type of quote or policy stance is sure to get close to/over 100 recs, while Clinton threads of the same caliber don't get as much love. I'm leaning towards Bernie, but I'm actually OK with both of them and think that either candidate would make a fine president, especially with a Democratic Congress in both Houses.

Under the Bush Years it was considered to be DANGEROUS to be a Liberal.

Or even a Democrat.

You had the likes of Bow Tie Boy / Tucker Carlson echoing that crap about the latest bin Laden tape sounding like the democrats and liberal talking points implying that we were the enemy within. They claimed the Flag as their own, questioned our patriotism and claimed we were buddy buddy with Saddam. We were expected to sit down and shut up. They went on and on about a "Permanent Republican Majority".

Bastards.

The right wing is acting left wing to sabotage a center right Democratic candidate?

And

The left wing needs to act right wing to win the presidency otherwise the right wing guy will win because they're posting on a left wing discussion board?

Umm what??

A lot of his opponents on DU add disclaimers like, "I agree with Bernie, but..." followed by, "he can't win", "he can't raise enough money", "he's too old" etc.

Cheating on your wife with cancer isn't exactly a good strategy to win the White House. She was a good person though. He turned out to be an ass.
