The crowd awaiting Bernie's arrival for his announcement is huge. I'm so glad he is finally
getting the attention. I'm watching Ed on MSNBC. This crowd size reminds me of the old Obama crowds. Love it!

58. Nah kid, you are a troll
by the way, that crowd was about 1000 folks from the campaign feed... that could be seen
It was likely far more than that, given that not all were on the screen. For Vermont, which is a small state, that is a HUGE crowd. If that was held in my insignificant part of the country that would still be considered a large crowd. What you are doing is making sure you turn people off from the process. I guess if people do not vote for a candidate your type wins. If they vote for your candidate, your type wins as well. This is now quite obvious You are at the very least, an attention whore. Now I got a story to write, like we have done for other campaigns. We are not partisan, which I know is a concept that you cannot grasp. By the way, this is the guy you remind me off at this point. 91. Martin is no liberal
And her record does not show ambiguity on the actual issues. I'm going to assume you are talking about the TPP, which has been covered to death here.
The bottom line is that it is not wrong to wait until the final proposal is reviewed before trashing it. The US interest in the TPP is clearly about reforming trade pacts, even to the point of requiring signatories to allow workers in their countries to unionize. Now, I have not seen any mechanism to enforce such things. So I am not a pro-TPP person. However, I do not believe that Obama and HRC, who have always been pro-labor and trade skeptics, have done a 180 and are now out to screw unions and working people. ESPECIALLY when being a populist is the easiest road to take right now. I just think the constant refrain to that effect is indicative of people posting here that have no clue what they are actually talking about. YMMV. |

116. This was a thread explaining a campaign announcement
Many people wanted to hear what was said, the crowd reaction etc. Until you interjected partisan politics, there was none.
In fact, this was a moment of joy both for people who are supporting Bernie Sanders and for the community of Burlington. Bernie is a very popular former mayor -- who won his first term as an extreme long shot against an incumbent 6 term Democratic mayor. By his last term, he beat a man, who had both the Democratic and Republican lines -- by a land slide. Many people spoke of what he did as mayor of Burlington -- and it is clear that he has a very significant legacy --- and he changed the culture of the town to make it even better than it was. The people's park that we were congregating in existed because he and others argued that the waterfront should not be sold. This was an important fight and I can't really imagine Burlington without TWO very large public parks (Battery Park and Lakefront park) with fantastic lake views. - Battery park is right next to lakeside park, but as the land makes a steep climb, from Battery Park, you see the Lake unless you go to the edge and look down. Had high rises been built where Lakefront park is, Battery Park could have lost its view as well. As to the crowd, there were people of all ages - including a healthy portion of long term residents of Burlington, who lived through the time he was mayor. There were also many college age people - even though the 3 colleges are long past the end of spring semester. The atmosphere was friendly - like everything I have ever gone to here is. Things like an older couple getting two Ben and Jerry's to offer to a mom there with two young kids and a baby -- that absolutely made the kids' day were typical. You should consider that this was a party -- that some attended in person and many remotely. Everyone was invited, but no one was forced to go. Do you go to party's and try to criticize others pleasure because it is not your prefered thing? Consider that Hillary Clinton will have her announcement. She will pick the time and place and I have no intention of criticising the place -- though she will have to look pretty hard to find a nicer place than Burlington. In addition, she will have to look pretty hard to find a place where her personal actions contributed as much to what it is as Bernie did for Burlington. Now, the reality is the party and the media are heavily behind HRC. It will be hard for anyone to be a serious challenge to her. That said, Bernie's speech recalls pure Rockwell American values. I suspect that if Bernie really does what he says with town halls and going door to door in Iowa, NH and then other states, there is a chance that his message AND HIM AS THE MESSENGER could resonate. If it does, it will be a major triumph of democracy over money. Before I went, I liked Bernie and I have not especially liked the Clintons for years, but I was resigned to HRC being the candidate. It may be the glow of a beautiful late afternoon/ early evening, but I am now excited in what Bernie could mean the country. |

What towns are on your acceptable list?
By the way that wonderful lake front park exists because of the work of Bernie and others to claim it for the people. You might consider Bernie COULD say he wants to do for the US what he did for his town, Burlington. I doubt Hillary and Bill would want to say they want to do for the US what they did for Arkansas. 131. You are part of the reason
why Clinton supporters feel attacked here. You get that, right?
You just can't help yourself from trolling. This is classic trolling. You just had to interject negativity with no substance in this thread. I know other Clinton supporters who if they don't want to say anything will avoid posting or if they, will say something kind and supportive. But not you. This behavior of yours makes us Sanders supporters angry and wanting to push back against your constant bullshit. That will bleed into other threads with other Clinton supporters. Attack the policies. Attack the positions. Debate them all you want. I certainly will with regards to Clinton. But when you post just to piss in the cheerios, then don't be surprised when you get slapped around metaphorically for it. And other Clinton supporters, if you want to feel like you are not being attacked, then reign in your supporters like this one. |

You can be FOR Hillary, but you can't be AGAINST Bernie. He's been in Congress a long time and he's a working Congressman. He knows the problems and solutions and tackles questions honestly. He doesn't take corporate money. I think this campaign will bring out a lot of truth and the media has problems with that.

know what the problems are. Never fear she will soon learn what the problems are and triangulate a solution. Either that or she has figured out if she is listening she doesn't have to talk which is one of the main reasons why she lost the primaries back in '08. She has a problem with the talking part, people don't always like what she has to say.

1. His supporters tend to spend a lot of their time bashing actual Democrats.
2. He is long on telling us what the problems are, and short on solutions. I think all the Democrats agree on what the problems are. He needs to pivot to what his solutions are to those problems. 3. However, Mrs. Clinton's supporters aren't coming across much better. Not all, but many.
Your second point is dead-on, yet I still appreciate Mr. Sanders calling attention to the problems of the middle and working classes. "We" are aware of it, but by definition the posters here are politically active and usually well-informed. I really, really like Sanders, but at this point he probably IS a 21st century McGovern. Finally, he's a Denocrat now ![]() Again: I don't think hostility is going to do anyone's candidate -- or the Democratic Party as a whole -- any good. 40. Vermonters did Bernie proud
Crowd loves that Bernie voted against Iraq war and is committed to NOT being engaged in a perpetual war in the mideast.

115. I actually went over to MSNBC's "Big Ed" Show to Watch...
the other cables were doing "Cowardly Iraqi's Afraid to Fight" STUFF.
I'll give credit that MSNBC and "Big Ed" got enough backlash from "Twitter" and other "Social Media" that they sent Ed there to cover Bernie's important Speech. |

148. And then they cut it off and went to Al Sharpton, before the speech was finished. Fortunately I was
also watching the livestream so saw all of it.
CSpan is the best way to watch these events. |

149. Speech is on site
and media outlets linked to it. (Including us). I also posted it in full here.
I hope the coming announcements from other candidates take a hint and post the speeches as well. If they do will do the same. To me it is essential to see all of them. |

150. I have already posted it. I watched the livestream, MSM coverage was terrible, what there was. CSpan
is always good.
I watch all candidates, but will not be changing my mind at this point. This country is in trouble, and I see no one other than Sanders who has the right ideas to begin the long journey away from the current disastrous situation we are in. |
