Excellent speech by Sen. Sanders - He missed addressing a few important things

...notably, women's reproductive rights; immigrant rights...

Racism; criminal justice; discrimination; lgbt rights; disability rights - all crammed into a sentence at the end like an afterthought.

The closest he got to outlining these in his address was his repetition of economic justice, which, although important and a worthy focus, doesn't necessarily encompass or deal with these concerns.

I look forward to the senator expanding on them and fleshing these out in the future.

The problem that "insurgent" progressive Democratic prez candidates tend to face is expanding their base past white, college-educated voters

...I wonder if many voters listening to this speech view it through that narrow lens of opposition to Hillary?

I just got a lecture by a Bernie supporter's last week who straightsplained to me that Bernie was really big supporter of LGBT people. Problem is I have worked on that issue for large national and state organizations, and I have never heard him say anything about it.

I think he is showing you that he is a limited issue candidate. Which probably means he just wants to impact the debate on those limited issues. I guess we'll see.

first person to be considered for the nomination in any serious way that has not literally bad mouthed LGBT people and or our rights to some extent at some point in their career, Hillary is a strong supporter but also a person who has pissed me off with her hesitations as often as she has delighted me with her stance on LGBT issues.
When you say you 'worked on that issue' I'm confused because you mention no issue. What is 'that issue'?

Good luck there...

I don't know what issue that Hillary excels that Bernie can't do better?

a Christian and I say God is in the mix, they lack a spiritual element, now here's my friend 'ex gay hate preacher Donnie McClurkin to entertain you by declaring war on gays!!!!'

Hillary: 'I oppose gay marriage, civil Unions blah, blabbedy, blah'

Edwards: 'My Baptist deacon Daddy!!!! Traditional marriage is just a part of me. One man, one woman, God, God, I am moral, they are not!'

Obama's Inauguration featured the honoring of Rick Warren, days after he'd equated us all to pedophiles, thieves and whatnot. On TV.

So not being viciously attacked as part of some pandering to hate drunk 'faith community voters' is in itself very refreshing.

Another sign he probably isn't in it to win it. He wants his voice heard on a few issues and that is about it.
