Moment of humor!

Went out for a mountain bike ride down our dirt road this morning... When I turn around to come home who should I see but Ernie the tame wild turkey trotting down the road after me...! Silly bird, he jogged home following me back. Turkey trotting all the way! Wish I had a video, truly funny!

Turkey's are cute and silly birds.

(Except the one that poked a hole in my sister's head.)

And his plumage is fluffin' up for a strut!

A couple of winters ago, we had a flock of hens and poults , with an occasional jake, gathering under the bird feeder just outside our kitchen window. The snow was high enough that they could look right inside at me while I was washing dishes and peck the window. When a mature tom showed up, they all deferred to him while he gobbled up every seed in sight. (Pun intended!) They were fun to watch, but I got tired of cleaning up their poopsicles so the dogs didn't eat 'em!

Maybe I should post some photos of the inside of the beehives? That's really cool too!

My friends have an alpaca farm and I'll be helping shear them on the 8th. They're hilarious. They have a few chickens, ducks and geese as well. I'm trying to talk them into a beehive but so far, no luck.

Farms are cool.

I wish I had a front and back helmet cam. Some of the things you see while on self powered 2 wheels. We had another T-boomer last night but I might get a short ride in this morning. I don't ride when it is lightening- just a coward I guess.

It's funny that I bought a mountain bike because our road was unpaved and was hard on my road bike. Not 2 months afterward they paved our road.

I haven't ridden in some years but with retirement I took the bikes out of retirement. I had to rebuild the brakes on the M-B and put in new tubes. The road bike got a brake job as well, but it needs new tires as the old ones are dry rotting. So I am riding the mountain bike on asphalt.

6. Riding a mtn bike on asphalt just means you get strong faster, when you get on your road bike

you will be amazed! I started riding on wide tires on a mountain buke years ago becausew it felt more stable than skinny road tires... When hubby finally got me on a road bike, wow! : )
I just retired last week, thoroughly loving getting the bike out in the mornings!

Of course, I will do it much quieter tomorrow so I can slip out without the turkey following me....!

I know what you mean about the 2 bikes on asphalt. Before I realized how bad my road bike tires were I did a short ride and was amazed as to how fast I was going with little effort.

My Mom (rip) was in a fencing club. She always used a straight Italian grip in practice and a pistol grip in tournament. Using the straight grip was like riding the mountain bike on asphalt, the pistol grip was like a road bike on smooth asphalt.

They are a lot slimmer in the wild than the one in the photo at the link.

That must be someone's pet.

To find out whose pet he is, but no one has claimed him yet. I think he is used to coming indoors, as he is constantly watching me thru the windows of the kitchen or living room. He is clearly a pet 'wild' turkey....
And he is enjoying chicken scratch feed and sunflower seeds at our place....
