The piece of.... work who told Bernie he's not good enough on civil rights. What has she done?

Last edited Thu May 28, 2015, 05:43 PM - Edit history (1)

Has she led protests? Bernie did- against segregated dorms at the University of Chicago. Has she worked as Bernie did on civil rights? He was an organizer for SNCC. Has little miss pantsonfire, marched on D.C. or any place else for civil rights? Bernie has. Repeatedly. Just what has little miss nastypants done for civil rights? But it's not just that that's questionable about her:

The other day another pile o'crap written by Nancy Letourneau, aka little miss smartypants was posted here. I'd be ashamed to post, in obvious admiration, such ugly stuff.

She has an agenda- and it's to slice and dice Sanders and economic justice/liberal populism. Why? I suspect it's in support of HRC, but that's not Hillary's fault and it's not particularly germane as to her ugly idiocy.

In the article the other day, little miss smartypants defends corporations and equates Wall Street and the corporate world with unions and schools. she hypocritically rails against demonizing when that is her forte. Here's the thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6728629

Here's her bullshit blog:

I'm a pragmatic progressive whose writing is influenced by a long journey out of conservative Christian fundamentalism, as well as my professional experience as a family therapist and nonprofit executive.

Through those experiences, I honed my skills as an original thinker who looks beneath the surface, gravitates towards the hard questions, and challenges conventional wisdom.

What began as an avocation eight years ago has become a vocation now that I have joined the staff at The Washington Monthly's Political Animal Blog.

Their LinkedIn skills include "Race Relations" and "Strategic Communication":

Strategic communication can also be used for political warfare. <...>

In the August 2008 paper, DoD Principles of Strategic Communication, Robert T. Hastings, Jr., acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, described strategic communication as "the synchronization of images, actions and words to achieve a desired effect."

Strategic Communication (SC) provides a conceptual umbrella that enables organizations to integrate their disparate messaging efforts. It allows them to create and distribute communications that, while different in style and purpose, have an inner coherence. This consistency can, in some instances, foster an echo chamber that reinforces the organizational message and brand. At minimum, it prevents contradictory, confusing messaging to different groups across all media platforms.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_communication

Emphasis mine. Not sure I'd brag about that on LinkedIn, but I guess a job's a job.

The hypocrisy and lies, the idiocy and hyperbole, the lack of conscious and obvious spin into the abyss, is mind boggling.

Though I very much agree with you, cali, and am happy to kick and rec this OP, it's the last one I will acknowledge that acknowledges the insanity and disgusting attempt to degrade good people. Both candidate and supporters

Much of the championing of shameful attacks on Bernie Sanders and his supporters, especially supporters in the DU Bernie Sanders group, is due to a comment by Skinner in the ATA group. In it he states he had no idea Democrats hate Democrats so much. I took it to mean both ends of the spectrum of the Democratic party. Sadly, it has been used for fodder to increase the rhetoric and as a rallying cry to increase the hate.

I won't play the game.

If he does, he couldn't ask them to attend his rally the other day? For no other reason than the optics?

I've seen some Sanders supporters mention Governor Bill Clinton who came from a very white state.

But you know what?

About a QUARTER of Clinton's gubernatorial staff was comprised of people of color. This in a state about 15% African American.

Governor Bill Clinton made an effort.

Yet another example of Sanders and his campaign being INSULAR and not ready for prime time.

You better hope the press ignores him a while longer until he gets his sh*t together.

prove himself, his record does that. And yes, there were African Americans at the rally in VT. But it's not his style to try to get the cameras to focus on them. We are all sick to death of the staging, the scripting, the 'show' that is put on during campaign seasons.

Bernie walked the walk on Civil Rights when it wasn't so 'cool' to do so.

He supported Gay marriage while The Clinton Administration was denying their rights.

He never had to evolve on the rights of any group that was denied rights in this country. He was way, way ahead of almost every politician currently in this government right now.

You are not going to win any points by trying to smear Sanders on issues, he has the best record of anyone currently in this race or thinking about it, going all the back to his early years.

You would do better to talk about YOUR candidate's record.

Or maybe that is too difficult for you to do?

Just asking because that is usually why people do this kind of thing, try to drum up stuff that has no basis in fact.

You are going to be very surprised as this campaign goes forward.

So rather than be embarrassed later on, maybe it's best not to make stuff up right now.

He expects that I'm sure, and is in no rush to save anyone any embarrassment. Nor should he be.

Just try promoting your candidate, rather than attacking other candidates, it generally works better in the end.

It is due to all of the above that I have to say that when Sen. Bernie Sanders kicks off his presidential campaign with a suggestion that he is launching a "political revolution to transform our country," and yet makes zero mention of any of the issues that burden people of color in this country, my response is simply..."Not good enough, Bernie."

You can turn it into a hit piece all you want & try & talk about all the good Bernie Sanders has done for POC during the civil rights marches but he sure as shit seems to have put some blinders on now.

67. Agree completely ...
Thu May 28, 2015, 09:40 AM
May 2015

... here's how I see it.

There are lots of folks who would happily vote for Hillary against any GOP candidate in 2016. Lots and Lots of them.

This OP author, and a few others, regularly malign Hillary and those who would happily support her.

Obama beat Hillary in 2008 by becoming just as strong a candidate for the GENERAL election as Hillary would have been. It was only then, when people believed that he would also beat any GOP candidate, that people examined his positions relative to hers. And he eeked out a primary win.

Now we have Bernie supporters like the OP. Hyper-critical and over the top in their attacks on Obama (and his supporters) for the last 6 years, hyper-critical and over the top attacks on Hillary (and his supporters) now, and yet hyper-offended if Bernie is questions or **GASP** some one (a Hillary supporter) throws the same tactics back in their face.

Having read this person's OPs over the years ... its clear there is little to no political acumen at work here. At least not that will work in Sanders' favor.

I mean, in what world would one think they can endlessly attack a candidate and their supporters, AND then also expect them to switch sides and JOIN them?

Sooner or later, those folks are not only not going to switch sides, they are going to fight back. And the OP acts surprised and even offended by what was a predictable response.

And at times I think for some of DU's loudest and most active OP authors, are really only interested in the fight.
