Nebraska: Threatening calls to lawmakers on death penalty repeal

Sorry if this has been posted before.

Threatening calls to lawmakers on death penalty repeal not of 'criminal nature,' patrol says
LINCOLN — A spokeswoman for the Nebraska State Patrol said Thursday five threatening calls to three state senators about the death penalty “don’t rise to a criminal nature” at this time.

Spokeswoman Deb Collins said the patrol is still investigating and working to identify and contact the callers.

The World-Herald listened to one of the calls, left on a senator’s answering machine early Tuesday. On the message, a female caller said she wished “every member of your family was murdered by a mass murderer” and that “your females are raped and left for dead” so the senator would understand people’s support for the death penalty.

...

Another senator showed a reporter Tuesday a Facebook message expressing hope that Nikko Jenkins, who was convicted of four murders in Omaha, could get out and have a “sleepover” at the female senator’s home.

Not everyone in Nebraska is nuts, but we are a red state, so we do have our share of loonies.
